My mom, tunnelbrat, passed away today.

Wednesday, March 3rd, she had a stroke while doing errands in town. She was taken to Tawas Hospital by ambulance and then flown by helicopter to St. Mary's in Saginaw. For the first week things looked very good. Then there was a rebleed and pressure on the brain and she started losing brain capacity steadily for the next week. Friday dad took her off life support, and today her body stopped breathing.

I just thought it should be known.

Seems I get around to changing my journal only during elections, winterfest online and around convention time.
Preparations are being made now for both.
This year Winterfest Online 2010 is in February.
Here is the ad: www.batbforever.com/tmvids/ad1…;
The Beauty and the Beast 2010 convention is in San Diego this summer.
I will have links for both soon.

We did it.  It feels so good to know that as small as my part was, it was being duplicated all over the country and THAT made a difference.  (We cheered when McCain announced he was giving up on Michigan.)

It's going to be hard, but we have turned in a new direcion.

Now back to art. ;)

OBAMA!
Just wanted to say that. :)

Lack of activity on this site is directly and inversely related to the activity level of other areas of my life.

I look forward to renewed hope with the up and coming election.

I thought it would be a good time with the tourist slowdown to say that I will conside doing commissions.

For B&B fans, don't forget that Winterfest Online will be happening in January.  The link is here for information:

I should have stayed retired.  Working now on a mural, a quilt, centerpieces and bags for the LA convention, and worrying about bills.

Winterfest online is over and was successful.  There was a while when it looked like there was going to be unmanagable clashing between my heart project and my community project, but we managed to make it through.

The last two months or so have been busy with projects that can only vaguely be called "art" related.  The town flag, the logo/pin for the state initiative, and the related products have been ahead of what I really want to be doing.   Hopefully I can put them away soon and do some real meat projects now.

I soaked in bleach&soap water... rinsed and baked two shoping bags full of maple cuttings (logs) to use in a miniature project.  I would like to get that started. The biggest drawback on that project has been the research on the architecture of the French fur trade buildings.  How did they secure the poles for a lateral log structure?

Fall has never been my favorite season due to allergies.  Since retiring the allergies have not been as much of a problem.  If I don't sleep... I can just nap during the day.  If I have a headache, not a problem.. head back to bed.  No lesson plans, no people to call... just relax.

I love retirement.

Now I don't mind Fall so much... I can actually enjoy its beauty.
It's been a busy first year of retirement.  I am still reading about a book a day.  I have to work hard not to pick up more things to do.

WinterfestOnlineIII is Over

Mon Jan 16, 2006, 10:00 AM
Tired but inspired

We had a lot of fun, now we are tidying up the Great Hall to put it in Archive mode... Still there, yet quiet.  www.beautyandthebeast-tv.com/w…

The yahoogroup where the chatter was heard in several languages, will be archived... readable but no more entries until next year when it is activated once more.  tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/wfol…

The contests are over, the stories completed.  It was a good 9 days. (In spite of some late night crashes trying to keep up with the daily updates.)  What an incredible team the WinterfestCandlemakers are!

Now I want to draw.  Lots.

Back from my Convention

Tue Jul 19, 2005, 6:19 AM
Burst of energy?

The burst is for starting my cleanup efforts.  I really need to get the house under control.  I can't work in this kind of mess... I need space.

The convention was a blast... more like a family reunion (where you actually LIKE your family.)

Frame of Mind

Ready for whatever

If I ever get a firm control on the Garage, then I should be able to get my livingroom back before the end of Summer.  Oh well... probably too much to hope for.

Big Garage Sale in August!

I keep trying to get up early enough to get "something" done before the heat sets in.... opps, too late.

Retirement could become a habit!

Ready for whatever

Last week of School.... Retirement time.  I didn't get all my goals done, but I am resigned to walking away from the unfinished goals... and all the politics.
I am still reading heavily for pleasure (... a return to my first love).  It has left me relaxed and resigned, ready.
