An OOC OC. 0_o
Started out as a chara sketch and turned into this. That flintlock pistol looked okay close up when I was working on it, but it hasn't shrunk down very well.

I wish the 18th century would come back into fashion, I want a tricorn hat.

The second I saw this I thought of "The Highwayman" by Loreena McKennitt <333 Love that song!

OMG! Remarkable! I recognized the flintlock pistol on sight. This looks like something from the early- to mid-18th century. I've always had a thing for outlaw characters. I love how his sallow skin and sunken-in eyes make him a macabre-looking character and the incredible contrast of the background. With those clouds and that sculpture, the background really could pass for something out of a Baroque or Rococo painting <333

You and I both! Back then the conditions weren't nearly as hygienic but good gracious I want a Rococo ballgown so badly <333 I'd make one if I were a better seamstress and had the time, and was living on more than just a medical school student's meagre budget XDDDD

I also want a tricorn hat. :cries: I have a couple that are meant as Halloween accessories, but it's JUST NOT THE SAME!!

Like someone else said, I also dig the outlines around everything. I got that same crap from a teacher once too--"Nothing in real life has an outline around it!" Yeah, well, nothing in real life has interpretive brushstrokes either.

I really love this piece; I think the looseness really adds a lot to the mood. Great work on the outfit, it looks wonderful.

This reminds me very much of the movie " Le Pacte des loups". The atmosphere is very dark and the man looks quite creepy. And the colouring is fantastic!

The 18th century is cool, but the 19th century is cooler.

And speaking of cool, this picture is cool. The background helps bring the mysteriousness of him out more, in my opinion.

I do love my fin-de-siecle, victoriana, gothic-revival stuff. And the early 20th century, actually.....but it's roccoco and the age of enlightenment all the way for me.
Thankyou, I actually enjoyed doing this BG.

"I'm the dandy highwayman, who you're too scared to mention. I spend my cash on looking flash and grabbing your attention.
staaaaaand and deliver...your money or your life."
will not leave my head now....
I like the way the outlines of figures and objects are highlighted and stand out against the darker surroundings.

I carefully resisted the urge to sing that while I was working on it. I was tempted, though. I once got told off by an art teacher for drawing outlines around everything, I've been doing it ever since ^_^

Thankyou. Maybe he's in the process of very calmly/vacantly drawing the gun. Or furtively shooting someones feet off. I dunno. I do compositions, not logical scenarios.

Cut your hair? Surely that's a sign of the impending apocalypse. How long is it ATM? Is the beard still present? & I would have said you already do have his hair, pretty much.

Hehe, the hair has not been cut at all, its all dif lengths due to not looking after it, but at it longest it sits at the bottom of my ribs, Pretty long! pretty stragly.
The beard changes regularly, at the moment its pretty strong, but ill have a shave sooner or later. Dunno what to do with it next, watcha reckon?
Apparantly im looking daemonic these days.
I stopped putting any effort into my appearance a couple of years ago. Hasent done me any favorus really, looking like a tramp.
Ive been meaning to get my hair cut for years also, but can never decide on any style, I never think it will suit me.
Hows your hair at the mo?
Also how are you feeling these days? <;prod>
I feeli like im felling appart generally. Aches n pains.

Man, I cant believe im totally skint and living on a bus. Alls pretty lame right now.

Oh well.

Either go for the full Amish or lose the beard, IMO. (Although, a marcel proust style moustache must be due for a revival >_^) I have no photos of what I think would suit you

My hair is shortish, black and unbrushed ATM. I asked for a fringe like Nicole Richie last time I went to the hairdressers and got an emo wedge. I now look like Major Kusanagi from ghost in the shell. (I quite like that, though).

Daemonic? Not just demonic? Blimey.
I've come to the conclusion that aches and pains are a fact of life at all ages. It's just old people who complain too much. And I'm menstuating again, beat that! I cant believe I'm 23 and have nothing in my bank account and I volunteered for a non-paying job at a museum. God, they could make a sitcom out of us.

=D sweet!
Meh, I don't think the pistol's anything to worry about. It looks convincing. XD

But man, don't we all want one of those hats deep down inside. @_@

I know I do.

I love the background. Simple, yet affective. And of course I'm drawn to the fact that he looks like he has no eyes. >D Flippin awesome.

He dosent have eyes. I realised after about layer #infinity, he dosent need them! Thought I'd got away with that XD

I'd also like a beauty patch and shoes with big fuckoff buckles on them and rococo decor. But not lice and pox and no ipod.
