With no natural light to mark the passing of the days, Alana had quickly lost count of how long she'd spent trapped as a Sphinx in Salah's tomb, deep beneath the pyramid. All that she did know was that there had been no change whatsoever in that time, nothing to break up the endless, crushing monotony of her new existence, staring at the blank wall dead ahead as the silence hung heavy and oppressive over the chamber. Now and again she drew comfort from the fact that she was not alone - the other three Sphinx in the room were adventurers like her, who had come here in pursuit of immortality and been given that dreadful prize. Still...she had no way of communicating with them, no ability to acknowledge them, no means with which to reach out and comfort them and be comforted, perhaps, in turn...in that regard, she may as well have been alone.

Lauren was bored. Not just slightly bored either. Bored out of her mind. Three days she'd been stuck in this dump. Well...to be fair, it was actually quite nice. A secluded, remote wooden lodge in the middle of a large forest...she'd booked it along with a few of her friends as a summer break, her boyfriend Tom deciding to tag along at the last moment. At first it was lovely. So quiet, so relaxing...but then a day passed. Then another. Lauren quickly came to realize that silence and relaxation were only nice for so long. The worst part was that everyone else was absolutely loving it. She gritted her teeth. "Four more days..." she whimpered...
