Great Horned Owl Mug

A great horned owl, Bubo virginianus, surrounded by trees in winter. The detailing got a bit away from me on the feathering there! I just can't stop myself sometimes. Thrown on a kick wheel in porcelain, painted with engobe, then glazed with food-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe semi-transparent blue-green and brown tenmoku glazes.

This piece holds 12 ounces, and was fired to cone 6 oxidation.
