Sticker Art .0027 by QuestionJosh

Got a few more big productions and quality stencils this time.  The installations have been lacking in quality though.  Anyone up to changing that next week?

Also, think I should start doing interviews for this article?  I think it might make things a little more exciting rather than just a bunch of thumbs.

:+favlove: if you like what I'm doing.  Comment on the original art if you like it.  I'm sure they'd appreciate it on their stuff more than on this article.

Supported by kwgcrew and #kidswithguns.

I think interviews would be a good idea.

Go through and do all these pictures, then either pick one of the artists to interview, or pick a completely different artist, who might not be awesome, but does persevere or something, and add the interview at the end.

This is really taking off. Good job with it.

nice stuff, good eye for good art ;)

but i noticed that some of this stuff isnt street art....people put anything in this section because it's done with spraypaint or has a cutout/threshold filter....not enough to be defined "street"....:D

my suggestion is to cut the selection to stuff that is actually on the streets...

Which pieces are you referring to exactly? It's all street art, whether or not it's on the streets doesn't matter.

i mean all the things like canvases that arent done on the streets.
regardless of the deviantart definition: as for technique, they're exactly the same as regular graff. but its not a distinction that should be based on technique. cos if you think about it, the media of canvas have started to be passed on to the streets some time ago. i myself use markers and sometimes brushes in my walls. there's people who do installations in the streets.
however, obvious as it may sound, street art is art done on the street. intended not only for a personal study done calmly at home or in my studio. the interaction with the street, city, lonesome highway bridge in the moors, yard or whatever it may be, the fact that people can look at you paint and above all the fact that it's something meant to be seen by everyone (who seldom knows it's you who did it) changes completely perspective in the painting, its meaning and its purpose....am i right?
dont misunderstand me, im not degrading street art inspired canvas painting as whack toy shit for pussies. you can see i myself draw a lot on non-wall material, and its fundamental to do so to evolve and study things before painting them on the street. but it's also true that, in some cases like yours, things done on canvas apparently come from a conscious street background/knowledge. the fact that you do graff on a canvas is a quote, it's like warhol putting beans and shit on canvas, get my point? its not an ad, its a canvas with an ad on it. the ad has lost its function and it just isnt an ad anymore. the fact that you use techniques which are intended for doing things quickly plus strong iconography so as to strike people, but are doing it on a canvas, should not only be about the trendy drippy effects and the cool vector drawings. but i think you know that pretty well already. i want to stress that, for me, it's not just a technicality.
the fact that street art (originally mysterious stuff that you see here and there done by god knows who) has moved on to become something explicitly yours, potentially sold (hell yeah! dont you think im a mummy who condemns so called commercial graff), and preciously stored calls for another name. i dont really want to put a label on it but i think it definitely shouldnt be called street art.
sorry for being so damn obnoxious :D

it documents the spring street project in NYC. fecalface covered it a few months ago. the artwork is great but the commentary in the video sucks.

oh shit i draw with pencils good point, thanks for pointing that out, my point remains valid eventhough u got butthurt, u wanna talk shit about me using pencils , haha, u made a bunch of crap everyone has drawn and painted before and a Marvin the Martian
in Stencils ...mothafackin stencils, you have cero creativity... now that i see all of your spray painted things are done with stenciles...thats not even worth wasting more words on u..... let it go princess it's over

How do stencils have zero creativity? If you look at artists like ~RAMENDEATH and *ESKAY101, their stencils are nothing but creativity.

i'm not looking at neither one of those galeries...if they good i'm happy for them all i said was gerilla tactics had no right to critizise my graffity since all he does is spraypaint over a stensil...so he really has nothing to say when it comes to graffiti, graffity is more creative cuz it's done freehand not with a pre-set shape

Ha, you don't get it. We all cut our own stencils. We don't buy "pre-set" shapes, it's all completely 100% original hand made art.

Amen.

As soon as you become elitist with art and make broad generalisations about what is good and what is not, you become a narrow-minded fool.

and yes ur still butthurt, i have an actual argument all u saying is what u feel
just so u know u never put no one in their place none of what u said made a good argument,,,second i have never taken art classes all the graffity i do i learned from actually tagging and from working on letter styles not by painting over stencils...and if no one commensts my shit is cause i dont go commenting no one elses shit neither i don't have the need to know what others think about my graffiti
