Description
Elemental Eye in symbol form.
A table of elements I'm working on called the Elemental Eye. That's all I'm willing to say about the project it will be used in for now, but it is not Pokemon; elements and typing have been around in games for a LONG time before that! It is based on an extended version of the five chinese elements, the Wu Xing. Here's a few more details on the eye:
I wanted something in the shape of a symbol you could call up on a screen quickly to look at. I also wanted it to be fairly simple and not too 'spidery' and cross-crossing like Pokemon's type system; there are a few other little details that should be noted, mostly to do with what monster design would fit in where:
MYTH
--------------------
Not only will you find dragon-type designs here, but anything based on signature legendary creatures such as Griffins, Minotaurs, etc.
Myth and legend are created by the minds of man, but equally able to confuse them
MIND
------------------
Designs based around psychic and magical powers - powers based on the mind, obviously - will be under this element.
The minds of man create myth, but can be confounded by their presence
VOID
-------------------
Ghost and Dark-based designs - as well as anything sinister and supernatural - will be found under the Void element.
Void casts a shadow over the earth and blackens it with taint
EARTH
-------------------
Rock and ground-based designs are all under the Earth element umbrella term. No need to over-complicate things.
Earth grounds the storm's lightning and passes it harmlessly through its form
LIGHTNING
--------------------
Anything based around electricty will be a lightning element. I was tempted to headline this under 'air' but designs like my electric snail, for example, would look a little weird being an Air element there are also creatures in nature that use electricity as a weapon so making it a seperate element makes more sense.
Lightning splits the clouds and sky, arcing unrestrained through the air
AIR
-----------------
Designs based around flying creatures or sky/cloud based creations are classed as air. Anything thay may use wind and wings as a weapon.
Air can turn to mighty winds, hurling the strongest of matter as if it were nothing
MATTER
------------------
I may change this to Might or Brawn, I'm unsure yet. This is your fighting type designs, anything that bases its attacks on enhanced muscle strength or martial arts fighting skills.
Matter contains almighty strength that can bend even metals with focused force
METAL
-------------------
Anything that has metal as a primary design feature is in this element. Metal is one of the five elements of the Wu Xing and is traditionally the counter of Wood, but I had to make some adjustments.
Metal is resilient to viruses and unyielding to poisonous corruption
BIO
------------------
Designs that use poison in any form (including radiation and industrial substances) will be classified under 'Bio'. Although I could have looped this under 'nature' at a stretch, designs like Tartar and other industrial ideas would look a little strange without this element.
There is no living thing found in nature that can't be felled by germ or poison
NATURE
------------------
Compiling bug and grass into nature seems pretty logical to me, so that's the designs you can expect to be found under this element.
Every living thing found in nature takes sustenance from the waters of life
WATER
-------------------
I've combined water and ice into the one 'water' type; ice is frozen water, so why not? Any design based on snow, ice, water or aquatics will be classified as the water element.
Water and cold takes the rage and aggression from heat and flame
FIRE
--------------------
Should be obvious, this one if it's fire or heat? It's a fire element.
Even the smallest flame can light the darkness and keep the void at bay
Sorry, this is a personal work and can't be used by others.

How about Elemental and Creature types be different?
