Today I won a book. Värld av is, ett hotat arktis (World of ice, a threatened arctic) It's a photobook with pictures taken by Mireille De La Lez and text by Fredrik Granath. It's even signed! Unfortunately it's been a bit bruised in the mail, but nothing serious.The Swedish magazine Foto had a "contest" a few months ago, all you had to do was to answer a silly simple question and you had a chance to win the book.

Just a few days ago I read about White rainbows, more correctly called Fogbow, in a science magazine. I had not known of their existence before then. So imagine my surprise when this morning I went on the fields and there it was, the fogbow. I Took lots and lots of pictures of it. I also took lots of other pictures. It was a very successful little trip. It was quite cold this morning, about -22 C. The winter photographers worst enemy.. the cold. One could think this would not be so hard to battle, just put on more clothes. True true except for one little problem, your hands. To operate your camera you need to be press all kinds of tiny buttons and spin little wheels and whatnot. Put to thick gloves on and you wont be able to. Put to thin or no gloves on and you will quickly find your fingers to cold to move, and at the same time your willpower start to fail. All you want is to get back indoors to drink a cup of hot tea.
