[DEVIATION] Vampire Plant: A species of predatory florafauna related to cnidarians (and part of the same lineage as the vinestrangler), it disguises itself as a clump of low-hanging vines, outwardly indistinguishable from the surrounding vegetation, but once a suitable prey animal wanders within reach, the feeding tendrils shoot out with surprising speed, numerous rows of small hooked spines snagging and constricting the unfortunate prey, with additional nearby tendrils whipping towards the quarry to bind it further. Simple photoreceptors line its tentacles, allowing it to pinpoint the movements and shape of prey from a few feet away. The more it struggles, the tighter the tendrils constrict, injecting a paralytic venom in the process. Once incapacitated, digestive enzymes liquify the animal’s innards, and the resulting slurry is absorbed through the hollow spines until the prey is nothing but an empty husk (which then gradually decomposes into the soil).
