Kila: But why am I like... this?
Katie sighs and Kila sits up.
Katie: It's not your fault, girl. The world isn't always kind, and I'm sorry you had to find out this way. You really are like nothing else anyone has ever seen before, so we're figuring it out together. People may try to tell you what you are or what you're supposed to be, but that doesn't make them right. You don't have to let them be.
Katie: I know that this is hard, Kila, and it is for me, too. But my friends and I... we're all looking out for you.
Katie: Things might seem different now, but I'm still me... and you're still you.
Katie stretches out her arm, reaching to Kila. Recognizing the gesture, Kila inches towards her and touches her with her nose. She can barely feel it, but it's enough to make her smile.
