Description

Time for Desdeg to pull out the old photos to talk about the lifespan and development of kintas. In short, they live a long time and grow very slowly. It sounds pretty cool to live for over two centuries as long as you're okay with spending 10 years in high school and watching all your friends die several times over. That latter point is just one factor which contributes to kintas not adapting well to an increasingly fast-paced and global (and smaller) society.

Oops, these are taking longer to make than I thought. Well, guess I'll continue into March.

Transcript:
Kintas live a long time - the longest of any sapient species. The life expectancy for a modern kinta is about 240 years for a female and 210 years for a male. For comparison, typical female lifespan averages 135 for class 3 species, 80 for class 2 (and humans), 74 for class 1, and 62 for class 0.

In general, our life cycle parallels that of a human, but about three times slower. Kintas have a gestation period of almost 2 years; schooling age is reached around 20, adolescence begins in the 30s, and the age of 50 is considered full adulthood.

Many folks respect this longevity and the wisdom that is supposed to come with it. But in regions where kintas coexist with other species, many describe a certain sadness in witnessing the life and death of so many generations while the ever-accelerating pace of society is content to leave you behind.
