Both this practice and many of the projects themselves were met with harsh criticism domestically, being seen as superficial solutions to largely nonexistent problems.

Definitely a reflection on disconnected authorities razing neighborhoods to build freeways and totally not an excuse to draw a cute androgynous sledgehammer-wielding eighty-foot monster person. OK, maybe those don't have to be mutually exclusive
