Roosevelt's Pilot || The Devil's Mile

Katie Roosevelt and the crew had arrived at Devil's Night Downs only a couple days of ago and with them they brought the daughter of a racing superstar. The filly's name was Pilot, the daughter of Command and Conquer, and much like her sire she was all business. Katie Roosevelt personally groomed the mare and saddled her before personally walking the mare to the mounting area. Both human and horse were quiet this day as they took in the competition and the cold weather. Pilot grew eager to race, she pulled at the lead but was soon calmed down by Katie, whom knew that the mare was ready. The filly was large but not as big as some of the competition but did this scare either the filly or her handler? Absolutely not. Katie Roosevelt had a lot of faith in the mare, even if she loses, Katie would hold much respect for the horse. The jockies mounted the horses and as the Pilot's jockey approached her the filly pulled back slightly but was again calmed by her owner. "Shhh, love." said Roosevelt. The jockey then safely mounted the mare and was led to the track where she would be taken by a pony to the gate. Pilot was on her best behavior while everything happened.
