Winter, 326 of the Third Age
Featuring Khairo and Zion
Khairo's Magical Awakening Quest, Part 3
In reply to: The Boneyard

Face to face with a Blight, Khairo froze.  Creatures of death and rot and corruption... what could this one want?  But the grey stallion seemed scared... for Khairo and his herd, or for the Blight's own interests?  One thing stood clear in Khairo's mind:  not knowing how they had arrived in the boneyard, he might not be able to lead his herd out as safely or as quickly as he would like.
"I don't trust you," he said.  "But if you know the way out, lead on.  Just... keep your distance."

And so Khairo makes, perhaps, a stupid decision.  Here's hoping Zion doesn't lead the herd to a bunch of ghouls or something. =P

Items Found? Comet Flower (x1)

Random Event: Side Quest

The spotted blight offers a weak smile and graciously dips his head. He gives both you and your heard a wide berth as he moved around to take the lead. He shuffles quickly to lead you and your herd from these forsaken soils and once he feels the way is clear, stops to speak with you. He's mindful to keep his appearance obscured, eyes darting nervously to your foals. Perhaps he's worried he'll scare them?

'T-this should point you straight and true.' He explains, nodding to the fain trail in the dusting of snow. 'Should take you to an oasis...not sure if it's frozen over or not.' He admits. 'Safe travels.' He adds before nervously shuffling off. In his departure he seems to unearth a small flower as he retreats!

The Blight seems to have been telling the truth as in less than half a day you arrive at an oasis tucked under a wide umbrella thorn tree. The waters are cold but unfrozen, offering everyone a place to drink.

Stones seem to peek out of the ground in a circle around the pool which you can see if more like a crater surrounded by a small hill. Standing you realize the roots of the tree are tangled around yet another stone that it too perfectly cut to be natural! This IS the shrine! Lost and buried after years of neglect only a few of the stones are remotely visible.

As you move around inspecting each stone you begin to feel a tug towards one in particular. The most uncovered you give it a sniff before a carving in the stone begins to glow! The symbol resembles flames; you must be a Fire Elemental!

In a sudden flash you’re given a vision of:

Rolling dunes of golden sand dance before your eyes in a glittering storm. The sun, high above, makes the air shimmer with the heat that simmers off the ever moving horizon. As you narrow your eyes to see through the haze you can just make it out...the faint stacks of compressed sandstone that struggle to stay above the dunes. The sunken temple lies hidden somewhere to the south, appearing and disappearing with each passing breeze. As the vision begins to fade you can just make out the carvings along a half toppled obelisk depicting a unicorn dancing through fire.

Do you think you have what it takes to find the lost temple and uncover the secrets of your Elemental?
