EC - On the Lakeshore

Despite his calm front for Chase, Khairo found himself more than a little dazzled by the number of other unicorns at the lake.  He was reminded, not entirely unpleasantly, that he was still so young and had so much world to see.  What would this festival look like in 10 years?  In 20?  When he was an ancient sage, body withering but magic flourishing?  Would he be bringing great-grandchildren to the lakeshore to play in the pollen-dusted water?  Would he tell them about the day he brought Chase here, before their venerated grandfather had grown from tiny colt to mighty stallion?  What would his legacy be?

With such thoughts on his mind, it was no wonder then, that the red stallion was rather startled at the sudden words of a friendly-looking grey mare.  She had approached nearly soundlessly, and Chase tried to hide again as his father’s head snapped up.  

"Welcome to the festival!  Maybe I can show you around a little?"

Khairo laughed a little, smiling with more than a little embarrassment.  “Ah– thank you.  Sorry, I was lost in my own little world… We would absolutely love that…”
He nudged Chase out from under his belly again.  “... Wouldn’t we, kiddo?  Say hi to the nice mare.”

Chase, no longer hiding but still not looking the stranger in the eye, gulped.  “H– h’lo…”
Kharo decided not to push him.

“I’m Khairo, by the way, and this is Chase.”
