Description
This mini collection of artefacts relating to the silver fox is part of a growing "pop-up museum" provided by blackfoxes.co.uk
Educating on fox diet and nutrition,
the invention of complete pet food and distemper vaccines,
the history and abolishment of fox farming in the UK,
melanism, coat colours and genetics,
the fox domestication experiment
pet foxes and the natural history of silver foxes in the UK.
Included is a silver morph (Loki) and platinum morph (Zion) soft mount taxidermy, along with;
an original feed sack used for one of the first complete fox diets,
a historical advert from a London Breeder and Furrier (print),
books on silver foxes, including an original book from the UK Silver Fox Breeders Association
copies of newspaper cuttings on historical accounts of silver foxes in the UK
a silver fox fur coat (+ certification), originating from the 1980's when foxes were last farmed in the UK
and lastly, notices to inform you about these artefacts and the importance of their history.
I intend to exhibit my artwork together with this educational exhibit, in order to help raises awareness of the natural history of the silver fox.
Regarding the history of the silver fox and humanities use and abuse of this species, I am of the opinion; in order to learn from our mistakes, we must not forget them.
So I put it to you hive mind, do you think people will take an interest or will it put people off?
