That figure on the right side is my brother furiously searching the beach for his lenscap :D
Luckily we did find it and he also managed to get a couple of shot of this amazingly strong aurora flare which lasted no more than 10 minutes from start to finish.

Captured in Steinsvik, Nordreisa, Troms, Northern Norway.
08.02.2014 - Nikon D800, Zeiss 15mm f2.8, Iso 1600, 3 seconds.
4 Vertical shots stiched into a panorama.

This picture is just mindblowing, i'm not kidding. You've really impressed me with this gorgeus picture and i love that we can see your friend being surrounded by the nature and the northern lights. It's funny to think about how small we are compared to other things out there. But with a single picture, like this one, you can tell a thousand words. All the stars, the big and small mountains in the background. It's amazing, how many small, but beautiful things can be placed in a single picture. And you sir, did it well. I've got no more words to decsribe this. But it's a shame that i haven't yet seen northern lights, but one day i will. I hope i have my camera with me when i do see the lights. This image is gorgeous, there is no doubt about it! You captured the essence of scene flawlessly. The figure is slightly distracting, but not enough to pull my focus away from the beauty of the lights and the landscape surrounding him. I adore how the image seems to go on forever, it really brings the impact of the image to a 5 star level! The color and composition also make it seem like a whole different world, and almost surreal, I can only imagine what beauty it was to see in real life! Amazing work! Fantastic, fantastic job! Everyone should envy this image, because I know I do!

I agree. I like the figure as it adds more to the photo. It's nice to look around the whole image, rather than be fixed on a point. Nice critique though and of course photo. :)

The figure is far from distracting....
The-Witchy-Artist's avatar
It is slightly to me, but not enough to distract me from the beautiful scene, but then again everyone sees things differently :aww: I was just giving an honest critique.

Dude, where do you live? Almost all your pictures are auroras! I wish this happened where I live lol. Great picture!

Trichardsen's avatar

I live in Northern Norway, just above the arctic circle :)

And thank you

AgentZYX's avatar
No problem! How often do you see the auroras?
Trichardsen's avatar

Quite frequently during late autumn and winter, but it all depends on the sun and how active it is, since we are in a solar minimum it is less frequent now, but on most clear days you can at least see some faint auroras. :)
