ToaG: Age Across Oceans by TriaElf9 ToaG: Age Across Oceans by TriaElf9
So it is hard getting older, but at least it's not as constantly brought up by kids here than it was when I was younger and worked in the US.

I wonder why kids here think everyone is so young, and I'll have to keep an eye on where the line is drawn. When will I finally get the "WOW you're so OLD" comments... or will I get them at all... ^_-

Just a funny thing I noticed ^_^

"I wonder why kids here think everyone is so young(?)"

IIRC, Japan currently has the largest population of elderly per capita in the world. (It also doesn't help that its birth rate has been declining over the past 30 years or so due to numerous social factors.) So they probably think that *anyone* who isn't in their 60s or 70s is young.

It's not that they think that I'm young compared to the elderly. I suspect it might be their school teachers are older, so they have a hard time with me being a younger teacher. I hear it less from older students, but I still do hear it.

Well yeah, that is an issue for the country, but when you're living here, it's not really that obvious or something you notice at all, so I don't think that's why they say it ^_^;

Aren't older citizens in japan looked at in a different light than in the U.S.? With a bit more respect and regard for their experience? I could see how a society feeling like you have to 'earn' your ...seniority, I guess ... would give them a different view of age than a society where youth is king.

True, though youth is also treated like something amazing here, even though there is respect for your seniors. I'm sure some of that is a factor tho.
