NECA Pennywise 2017 by TrevorGrove NECA Pennywise 2017 by TrevorGrove
This is one of the Pennywise heads for the 2017 "IT" figures that the NECA team is making. A lot of fun to be part of.

Here's the final figure! necaonline.com/2018/02/it-7-sc…

again, fantastic sculpt - love the rough texture on the forehead and the detailed mouth.

only complain i have for the finished piece: his iris/pupil should be slightly off on one side.
neca missed that detail, which really made "it" even more creepy for me.

Thanks man!

I agree, I was surprised he wasn't wall-eyed, because it's something Skarsgard did deliberately for the character....I thought it made him creepier, too.

you're welcome and fuck, dude! thanks for the info!
i ididn't know it was him, without cgi... makes skarsgard
and his interpretation of pennywise even better. damn!

a shame the figure doesn't have his eyes. ;)

Yeah, it's a really cool detail to the character, and awesome that he could do it, naturally!

I'd like to see the toy with those eyes, but there may be a chance for alterations throughout the process as it goes into production. It may just happen naturally as it's rare that eyes are painted perfectly straight on with toys and collectibles. :D It's a notoriously hard part of this business.

yeah true, over all i am really pleased with the remake.
i am reading the book for the first time right now and i am on
page ~500... still less the half way through, that book is a beast.
but the scenes they took from it are spot on, also the cast! really
can't shake the actors faces off while reading the child parts, fun
thing is, i imagine them grown up without knowing if that's what
they'll look like in rl then. ;)

haha, you're right... thats something i am always concerned about:
the look of the figures. it might be the first time, i'd wish they screw
it up. :P

Oh cool! I want to read the book for the first time, soon, too. Hearing about your experience with it is great! I'm reading through The Dark Tower again for fun, because they made a god-awful movie adaptation, and I wanted to be reminded how much I loved King's books. :) Also wanting to finally do my own ultimate interpretation of the characters as sculptures...but that may be a pipe-dream...It's hard to make time for personal project...especially ambitious ones.

honestly, it's my first "real" king book. i had a short stories book
written by him, back then, when i was a child and two or three of
these stories scared the shit outta me back then (still do i guess :D),
but i am slowly getting in the right mood to read books instead of only
comics/graphic novels. ;) i once started shining, because i love the kubrick
movie so much, but never finished it - bought the sequel, never started it,
because i wanted to finish the first one first. -.-
yeah, i've seen the dark tower trailer and was like, meh... dark tower seems
to be his big thing i guess, i've heard the comic adaptation isn't that bad. ;)

i hope i finish "it", before the sequel comes into cinemas. the book is a blast,
you'll love it. because you get to spend so much time with these kids, it's
actually like you know them. i took a break from the book, to draw more and
now i am back, and it felt like meeting old friends again. great writing and
character development.

i feel what you say regarding ambitious personal projects... i am a father for
almost one and a half year now and the the free time i have has to be used
different now, beside fulltime job, reading "it" (;)), playin some video games
and doing some small personal artworks there's not much left to do besides
sleeping and eating. :P

dude, i know you made the odlschool batman folks with spot on likeness, did
you ever did the 1977 hammond spider-man version? ->

any chance such a task will come in from the studios? that's something i would
buy instantly! if not, do you make commissions?! my fanboy heart just started to
race... o.o

It's hard to make time for things...I try to keep back some recreational time to play games or read or do things unrelated to work, but that's tough when there is so much to do. I can only imagine how much more difficult it is as a father!
King's an excellent writer, and pulls me in every time. I've read a few of his other books, beyond the Dark Tower, but most of his classics I still need to get to. The Dark Tower is great, particularly the first four books, but it's a big series to get through. I picked up all of the earliest comics, and loved Jae Lee's unique interpretation.
That's a great suggestion, it seems like that Spider-Man would have been made by now. Tweeterhead, the company i've done the Batman pieces with, hasn't expressed any interest in it to me, but I know they're mostly interested in doing DC, not Marvel.

It must be really hard to sculpt a character with such a heavy make up on because you can barely see the normal facial structure underneath :ohnoes: Turned out really well!

Thanks! You're right, it can be very difficult. I have to photoshop just to know if i'm close! Bill Skarsgard really transformed for the role.
