This was a fun piece I got to do last year for Sideshow Collectibles. It's for their 1/6 scale LOTR maquette line and it was just previewed this week.

I'll share more photos when it's fully revealed next week. This is one of my favorite lines to get to work on for Sideshow and I hope we do another this year. (They are a LOT of work, though. Lord of the Rings characters have incredibly intricate outfits.)

Sculpted from head to toe in waxes, except the weapons and lowest portion of the base which were provided by Sideshow. The great design was also done by Sideshow.

Thanks for looking!

I don't suppose it would be possible for me to purchase both a Legolas and a Thranduil sculpture would it ? I haven't seen you make a Thranduil yet, but I am confident you would make an awesome piece! Your work is amazing and I would love to have both pieces.

Thanks very much! I haven't been taking on private commissions lately just due to being so busy. I really appreciate your kind regard for my work, and I'm glad you like Legolas. This piece was sculpted for Sideshow Collectibles, and can probably be found on ebay if you're looking to own it. I think WETA is doing some amazing Hobbit sculptures now, so you may be able to get a Thranduil that way. Thanks again!

Your work is really amazing! Did you go to school to learn how to do this, or was it trial and error? They are beautiful:-)

Thank you very much for your kind words!
I did not go to school for learning sculpting. It was mostly trial and error and asking fellow sculptors for advice. Eventually you get enough confidence to trust your own methods. There's no right way to do sculpture, so you just find the way you prefer. :)
Best!

:) Thank you. I'm really glad you like him. He was a pleasure to sculpt. The pose was beautifully designed by Dave Igo of Sideshow Collectibles.

You're superbly welcome!

I really hope I get to do this sort of thing one day!! I'm taking a Modelmaking course at Uni this coming year so I'm incredibly excited seeing all your work for Sideshow, and some of my favourite characters beautifully sculpted!!
