Just turned my calendar to this (Couldn't wait to get to the next month of art). I imagine this, long after the crew themselves were evacuated, as a reclamation team sent in. Not only for recovering usable material but If I remember correctly, there was an small indigenous population on the planet and the Prime Directive is probably clear about NOT leaving old starship parts on a pre-warp culture planet.

Love the lighting effects in this piece.

There is no doubt that this is a worthy addition to the line-up. The only thing missing that I would have wanted to see is individual registry numbers and names for the shuttles.

Then again, who'd be able to see it, and I'd just go crazy over trying to identify the names and numbers, especially the Danubes!

I stuck in my name, a friend's name- Phoenix Bondi (who supplied the runabouts) and the shuttles belonging to the USS Polaris (my custom ship), and my birth date. Since no one would be able to read it, I stuck them in for fun.

That's fun to know, but it's a good thing that the registry numbers belonging to the Polaris aren't visible in a scene depicting an event way before she was commissioned, especially in licensed product!

I'd use the name Bondi again though. Since he modeled the runabouts, the in-universe explanation could be that Phoenix Bondi was/is a Chief Engineer.

He built the runabout meshes, I UV mapped and textured them.

I love this. There is no way Starfleet would just leave all that equipment on the planet.

Exactly. Recycle the useful materials. After all, the Galaxy Class is a LARGE ship.

If I was ever going to do a new series it would be set on a Galaxy class starship. I would also look to some of the modern cruise ship designs as sets.

Very impressive! This is pretty much what I imagine happened after the crew was rescued. Though what would a SCoE ship look like? Probably something like the construction ship from the Armada games but much larger considering what it would take to build massive starbases as well.

I believe Andrew Probert designed a Federation Repair Tug (TNG era) which was featured in one of the earlier Ships of the Line calendars. They were seen picking up the remains of Wolf 359 ships.

Very, very nice image Michael ! I always wanted to have a glimpse at the Enterprise-D aftermath.
I hope that I'll also be able to make an entry one day :)

I'll never forgive whoever came up with the idea of destroying the Enterprise D.

Blame Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, they believed the model and sets weren't built for silver screen quality and also the 6 foot Enterprise-D model was hard to fim with due to the massive saucer and low number of mounting points so they had to get rid of it, I just wish they didn't have such a short time and low budget to make the film, it would've helped out a lot. They could've built a Movie quality model, done screen tests for the
unused uniforms and completely overhaul the sets to for the silver screen.

I don't think they really needed a new model. The Enterprise D never looked better than in that movie.

Awesome! My image is definitely different than the usual starship in space images. I always try to challenge myself with each new Ships of the Line image.

That was after it crashed.  Starfleet had to disassemble and remove any trace of "alien" presence on Veridian III, so that the inhabitants of Veridian IV wouldn't eventually find proof of alien activity in their solar system, which would violate the Prime Directive.

Why do you think she was replaced with the Sovereign class Enterprise E?

Because part of her was destroyed and part of her was scrapped! That's why she was replace by Enterprise-E!

There's no canon answer since it was never mentioned in any officially published encyclopedia/magazine or in the series and films. I would assume the Enterprise-D was scrapped and the useful components would be reused in other starships. The Veridian III landscape would be restored to previous condition.

Her saucer section was still in good shape. Her saucer section could of been repaired and construct a new secondary hull. Then Enterprise-D could continue her service with Star Fleet.

In Generations, Picard's captain's log read- "...but the Enterprise herself cannot be salvaged." Meaning there was enough structural damage to the saucer that it is unable to be repaired and reused on another stardrive. However, the top half still had some reusable components to be used in other starships and stations. The lower 25% is a scratched up, mangled mess.

It almost looks like I can see the chairs on the bridge as the Runabout is removing the bridge module / cover.

Plus, I really wish we could have seen how large the main shuttle-bay really was in the series. I know it would have blew the production budget out of the water, but I would have been amazing.

This is a great piece.

Actually the parts sticking out to where the bridge module was originally located are the turbolift shafts. The scaling of the people, cargo, and shuttles are to scale.

They'll be hard pressed to find anything disappointing about this man, and this is from someone who hates seeing the Ent-D like this. I could look at this for ages just finding all the details!
