Gallery Submissions: What is MIXED MEDIA
What is Mixed Media? And how does my artwork fit into that category?
It has been brought to the group's attention that some may not realized what qualifies as Mixed Media (for our group, at least). A quick internet search brought up these definitions...
A technique involving the use of two or more artistic media, such as ink and pastel or painting and collage, that are combined in a single composition. (answers.com)
The term "mixed media" refers to a work of art made with more than one material. The common use of mixed media was a significant trend in the evolution of art in the 20th century. [for example] Painting: The combination of painting media such as oil, acrylic and watercolor in a single work has become a common practice among painters. Drawing: The mixture of different drawing media, as well as the combination of drawing with media such as painting, is another common form of mixed media art. (ehow.com)
Traditional-Art-Only's Mixed Mediums folder will be for artwork with:
both dry & wet media with approximately a 50%/50% ratio. (if you're not sure you understand what this means, note the group to ask and include a link to the artwork in question)
art with many different art mediums that won't fit into a single gallery folder and is not mostly one of those mediums.

Just for clarification, Traditional-Art-Only does not accept any artwork containing digital work...so NO, you should not submit art using both traditional & digital means to the Mixed Media folder. (see rules here for details) In fact if you do so, we will take note and if you do this a 2nd time, you will be removed from the group. Just a warning for those who would try.
If you have any questions regarding how the submission process works or need more info on the Mixed Media folder, feel free to ask us!
