Kingfisher Inn Railway RS2m #564 by Tracksidegorilla1 Kingfisher Inn Railway RS2m #564 by Tracksidegorilla1
Fans brave the bitter cold to see the first Kingfisher Inn train heading to the inn with a string of Powder River Coal cars. The county of Ulster had closed the line and suspended trains on the Catskill Division for a short time. The County wanted to turn the branch and the Catskill Mtn Division (which sees over 578 trains a day and the branch 10 trains a day during the winter months and 5 during the spring/summer months) into a recreational trail and reroute coal to road but this would of been the demise of the inn until the Big Ben Express stepped in and reopened the line and told the county to "Back off!". Fighting over both the Catskill Mountain Division & the Kingfisher Branch continued up until early March of 2017 when the County given the rights over to the Big Ben Express to continue operations on both the Catskill Mountain Division & the Kingfisher Branch.
