Description
Aletopelta resembles both ankylosaurids and nodosaurids, suggesting that it is a basal member of one of these two groups. Like all ankylosaurs, it was a bulky quadruped covered in armor-like osteoderms, including two large spikes sticking up from the shoulder region of its back. Aletopelta grew to an estimated 5 m in length, and weighed around 2 t.
