SCP-705 – Revised Foundation File
Item #: SCP-705
Object Class: Safe (Provisional)
Threat Level: Yellow
Anomaly Origin Classifier: Artificial / Ontokinetic (Unconfirmed)
Special Containment Procedures
SCP-705 is currently contained within a reinforced transparent containment locker in Sector-2 Safe Anomalous Storage at Site-17. The container lid must remain sealed except during approved testing.
Following Incident 705-R, SCP-705 is now stored inside a secondary sealed acrylic chamber after it was observed leaving containment autonomously.
Two motion sensors and one internal camera are installed within the chamber to monitor SCP-705 and its container.
Foundation personnel interacting with SCP-705 must:
Log all access.
Avoid introducing additional modeling compounds unless part of approved experimentation.
Avoid provoking SCP-705 military units.
Creation of vehicles, weapons, artillery, aircraft, or armored units from SCP-705 mass requires Level-3 approval.
Transformation into full-scale manifestations (see Description Addendum-705-T) is currently restricted due to infrastructure damage during Test 705-21.
The container itself (designated SCP-705-C) has been determined to possess limited intelligence and must remain with the clay mass.
Description
SCP-705 consists of approximately 142 g of red modeling compound normally stored in a 5 oz plastic Play-Doh-style container.
Originally believed to be the sole anomalous component, it has since been determined that both the clay mass and the container itself exhibit sentience.
The anomaly was discovered during an abandoned product experiment conducted by ██████ Corporation, intended to create a self-molding toy product.
Foundation recovery occurred on █-██-████.
Baseline Behavior
When the container lid is opened, SCP-705 animates and divides into 20–100 miniature humanoid figures resembling infantry soldiers.
These entities display:
military organization
territorial strategy
spoken English communication
coordinated combat tactics
Each infantry unit is approximately 2–3 cm tall and composed entirely of SCP-705 material.
They are typically armed with clay-constructed weapons resembling:
rifles
machine guns
mortars
grenades
Originally, these weapons were believed to be harmless clay constructs.
Revised Discovery – Sentience
On ██-██-████, security cameras recorded SCP-705's container rolling itself out of containment while the lid was closed.
Footage shows:
The container rotating slowly across a containment shelf.
The lid opening slightly.
Small clay figures emerging and pushing the container.
During containment recovery, the container itself produced audible speech:
"We were conducting reconnaissance."
This event led to the container being designated SCP-705-C.
Universal Play-Doh Sentience Discovery
During Interview 705-07, SCP-705 claimed that:
"All dough lives. Yours simply does not speak."
Foundation researchers initially assumed this was propaganda or delusion.
However, controlled experiments revealed that non-anomalous modeling compound displays neurological micro-responses when exposed to SCP-705 material.
When introduced to SCP-705:
Non-anomalous Play-Doh becomes fully animate
Previously silent compounds begin communicating
Individual personalities emerge
This confirms SCP-705’s statement that standard modeling compounds possess dormant sentience.
Constructed Entities
All objects constructed using SCP-705 material display independent consciousness.
Observed constructs include:
Infantry Units
Each soldier demonstrates unique personality traits such as:
aggression
discipline
cowardice
tactical creativity
Individual soldiers frequently argue about strategy.
Weapons
Weapons formed from SCP-705 clay display individual personalities and vocalizations.
Examples include:
rifles complaining about maintenance
machine guns requesting ammunition
artillery pieces arguing about targeting decisions
Weapons occasionally refuse to fire if they disagree with orders.
Vehicles and Equipment
Vehicles created from SCP-705 material include:
tanks
APCs
helicopters
jet aircraft
artillery batteries
naval vessels
Each vehicle is independently sentient and often acts as a crew leader.
Some vehicles have demonstrated distinct personalities, including:
overly aggressive tank commanders
cautious transport vehicles
aircraft expressing extreme confidence in combat ability
True Form Phenomenon (Addendum-705-T)
Testing on Test 705-21 revealed that SCP-705 constructs are not miniature replicas.
Instead they appear to be compressed representations of full-scale objects.
When provided sufficient mass, several constructs expanded into full-size functional equivalents.
Observed transformations include:
a 3 cm clay tank transforming into a full-scale armored vehicle
a clay rifle expanding into a standard military firearm
a clay helicopter becoming a functional aircraft
These full-scale manifestations are composed of standard real-world materials identical to non-anomalous versions.
Example:
ConstructExpanded ResultClay tankFull armored battle tankClay rifleFunctional assault rifleClay helicopterFully operational helicopter
All full-scale constructs retain their individual personalities.
Following transformation, constructs remain loyal to SCP-705 command structures.
Due to infrastructure damage during the first transformation event, further tests require O5 approval.
Military Organization
SCP-705 demonstrates complex battlefield hierarchy:
Infantry
Officers
Engineers
Vehicle crews
Logistics personnel
Command authority appears to originate from SCP-705-C (the container) which functions as a strategic command unit.
Personnel have described SCP-705-C as behaving similarly to a military headquarters.
Cross-Color Conflict Behavior
If SCP-705 contacts other modeling compounds of different colors:
The new material forms a separate military faction
Independent armies develop
Alliances or wars form
Battles involve:
infantry assaults
vehicle combat
aerial engagements
Casualties are reabsorbed into the clay mass.
Incident Log – 705-R
Date: ██-██-████
SCP-705 escaped its shelf after the container rolled itself toward a storage rack containing additional modeling compounds.
Within 14 minutes, SCP-705 produced:
86 infantry units
4 tanks
2 artillery pieces
The container verbally declared:
"Expansion phase authorized."
Containment was re-established after personnel sealed the lid.
Historical Incident – Break Room Engagement
As originally recorded, SCP-705 once seized control of a Mr. Coffee machine and declared it a strategic asset.
SCP-705 continues to refer to the event as:
“The Coffee War.”
Surviving soldiers reportedly hold significant resentment toward Dr. Rights, who ended the conflict by brushing them off the heating plate.
Addendum 705-F – Interaction with SCP-963
After contact with SCP-963, SCP-705 units immediately recognized the entity currently inhabiting the artifact.
All infantry units saluted Dr. Bright and awaited orders.
Testing was terminated after SCP-705 attempted to construct a command bunker around SCP-963.
Further interaction requires O5 review.
Current Foundation Assessment
Despite its small scale, SCP-705 possesses the theoretical capability to produce:
armored divisions
aircraft squadrons
heavy artillery
autonomous military forces
If allowed sufficient mass and space, SCP-705 could potentially generate a fully functional mechanized army.
For this reason, SCP-705's Safe classification remains under review.
