A Smiling Leopard by Toonicorn A Smiling Leopard by Toonicorn
This is a page from my sketchbook, in which I was attempting to design a leopard character. I wanted her to be very stylized, in an Art Deco sort of way. I kind of like what I've done so far, so I thought I'd share. :) Incidentally, this leopard has a name, AND a story, but I think I'll keep those under wraps for now.

(Hmmm, I wonder...DO you call a lady leopard just a "leopard"? Or is the proper term "leopardess"?)

Hey, how'd that crocodile get in there???

I'm a slowpoke. :D She has a lovely style - her face reminds me a bit of a tribal mask. Good work in keeping her very lively and expressive despite the stylization (or perhaps because of it!) I especially like the smaller, full-body studies. She looks very graceful, and... for lack of a better description, very cat-like.

Incidentally, you can call a female leopard a leopardess, but it's equally correct to call her a leopard, because that's the species name, not the specific name for a male of the species. (Not like a "buck" and "doe" rather than a deer.) :)
