Qalupalik Sketch Card - Classic Mythology II by tonyperna Qalupalik Sketch Card - Classic Mythology II by tonyperna

Perna Studios is very excited to announce our third trading card set entitled Classic Mythology II. This set will focus on 5 timeless Classic Mythologies that we have all come to love and enjoy during our lifetime. The mythologies spotlighted in this set are Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Celtic and Native American. We have an impressive list of artists involved on this set working on both base/promo cards and sketch cards. Set scheduled to be released in early Spring 2014.

This art of the Qalupalik from Native American Mythology will be a sketch card inserted in our Classic Mythology II card set. Card set will be released in April 2014.

Qalupalik is an Inuit mythological creature. They are human-like creatures that live in the sea, with long hair with green skin and long finger nails. The myth is that qalupaliks wear an amuatik (which is a form of pouch that Inuit parents wear to carry their children) so that they can take babies and children away who disobey their parents. The story was used to prevent children from wandering off alone else the qalupalik would take the children in her amautik under water and keep them forever. Qalupaliks are supposed to have a distinctive humming sound so they can be heard before they appear.
