1. Culture died: earlier the grass was greener and the writers were more gifted
Culture is mourned by those who have never studied its history. Clueless books have always been published.
For example, it is customary to evaluate the Silver Age of Literature by the works of the classics, but at the same time, such works were published that the modern reader would not even take in his hands. And there were the majority of such books.
In the book market, there is a normal screening out: authors send in manuscripts, the editor groans and twirls his finger at his temple, something is printed, something is successfully sold out. Only a few remain for centuries.
Publishers publish what is bought. You can advertise a book as much as you want, but if it doesn't fit with consumers, no one will buy it. All different ideas about the beautiful and important, which may not sound to you personally as music for someone else.

Everything is clear: the author dreamed of a certain beauty, brought himself in a pleasant mood and decided to share his feelings. You can just as well return from the concert and sing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony to your mother.
A story with such a plot reads well when the author speaks the word at a high level. A novice writer cannot write like that; it means that you have to take something else: a theme, characters, new curious information. And if this is not the case, then there is no need to publish.
Another common option is to describe your suffering. Dozens of manuscripts come to the editorial office about illness, devastation, disease, etc. The author complains about fate and wants to be sympathized with. As a result, another one was added to his troubles - the refusal of the publishing house. Many people are willing to help those in trouble, but few are willing to buy ineptly written books.
5. Publishers do not read manuscripts that come by gravity, and you can get into print only by acquaintance
Of course, it’s easier to get through an acquaintance, but if the publishers hadn’t read it on their own, nothing would have been published. The rotation of writers in the book business is very large: some authors are replaced by others, and most of the new works are just among the books sent to the general mailbox of the publishing house.

Publishers don't have enough money to advertise all authors. For them, a book is a lot: if it wins, it’s good, it won’t, but it’s okay. The main thing is that the balance of won and non-winning tickets is not violated.

The amount of time spent does not equal the quality. If you go in the wrong direction for a long time, you still haven't reached your goal. The message that “I've been working on the novel for 10 years” doesn't give them any useful information. Moreover, it says that you have no experience in writing books quickly and well - which is important if you want to create a series.
8. You can ignore commas and minor speech errors - if anything, the editorial office will correct it
They will correct it if your topic is a guaranteed bestseller (note: we are talking about the topic, not the plot and style of presentation).
And if you bet on something else and at the same time admit a lot of errors, the book will go to the trash can. Correcting other people's mistakes is a waste of work time that someone has to pay.
