Teen Titans 1 cover REtRedd

This book came out when I was a kid, knee deep in Claremont and Byrnes X-Men , and advertised as the next big thing. I wasn’t a DC guy at all, but bought it cause the cover looked cool. Plus, the art was from George Perez, a favorite of mine. Nobody drew group shots like Perez.

All that said….this cover really bugged me as an OCD artist. The gals were fine, I just hated the flow of the four boys on the bottom. The Kid Flash bein bent the same way as Cyborg….Robin forced in the center, and….that tiger. That tiger looks like a stuffed animal you won at a carnival. These are all things I “fixed”.

The other thing I wanted to do with it was make them look more teen like….rounder faces, bigger eyes , thinner arms, and awkward poses. Except Cyborg….he can be a big ol buck carrying around that armor.

So here’s my take on a classic…and I love the way it came out.
