Uncanny X-Men 128. That’s how long it took me to know who the new x-men were. Despite being a big comic fan, a big MARVEL FAN….i didn’t know who the new X-Men were. I bought an issue on the way to a Sunday Grandmom visit and read it on here chaise lounge while the adults all visited. And I was hooked.
The artwork was amazing…tho I kinda knew John Byrne at that point. Terry Austin was the deal maker tho, clean strokes over those precise pencils. And kudos to. Chris Claremont, who made me understand what was going on and who was who in only 17 pages. I was totally hooked.
Except in my rural Pennsylvania town, you couldn’t always find an issue of certain titles…either they never got there or were scooped up in between infrequent 7-11 visits. By issue 132 , I figured out when they came out and made sure I got a ride to get the latest issue before it sold out. Right around the Dark Phoenix saga. Great time to be a kid into comics.
So here’s a pic of the one’s that were the constants during that run. Hope you enjoy!
And keep checking in for some holiday fun pieces and whatever else I feel like drawin. See ya soon!
