Inspired by the song/album of the same name by King Crimson.
Oh, I'm rather young and found KC recently so I can't say that I can feel nostalgic about it, but they do remind me of other prog-rock bands I used to listen to when I was a kid. There's still something very mystical about the genre to me, though I can't quite put my finger on it.
Your inspiration shows. Somehow you were able to capture every little detail of Court. Well done!
Just today, I decided to do a further search to determine who the author was, and found you... but have to confess that I have stolen your copyrighted images. I'm asking your advice/expectations on what I should do at this point; I would *like* to leave it on my facebook page, but will remove it if you request me to.
I also am going to purchase the image, regardless, because it is such a magnificent representation of that magical song; I'm *still* trying to match a couple of details in it... Once I *have* purchased the jpg version, will you permit me to leave it on fb and Flickr??
In any case, I apologize for not doing further research before copying the image... it's so easy to just search for things, that I sometimes get ahead of my moral sense.
Just type under or near the image:
"In the Court of the Crimson King" by James McCarthy.
Oil on canvas. 20"x30".
Inspired by the song/album by King Crimson.
And I got an added bonus when I purchased your image... the original image that I found on images.google.com, was 1920xSomething. Even *that* was beautiful, but the massive image that you provide to purchasers is *spectacular* on my 2560x1600 screen!! I thank you again for a magical work!!
And I can assure you that *this* image will not get uploaded anywhere...
Come join our small group if you like !! I'm trying to help sell this incredible work for you.
It's called King Crimson: The Early Years 69-74 on FB. We discuss related artists and the later band at times too. We'd be honored to have you, James!
Later this Summer I plan on painting "Islands" inspired by King Crimson.
I've been to one King Crimson concert which was in 1996. I would have loved to have seen early King Crimson in concert.
I sold the original painting. I still sell prints except on Redbubble- they received a message there requesting it to be removed for copyright infringement due to the title, I guess.
I'll check out your facebook page.
Since then I've only been to 3 concerts- all Porcupine Tree- they've worked with Robert Fripp, too.
