Well, I have a confession to make... I was searching online for an image which represented all of the visions in "In The Court of the Crimson King".  I found this superb image in Google images, but with no provenance, so I copied it to my Flickr page, so I could link to it on facebook, which I did some time back.

Just today, I decided to do a further search to determine who the author was, and found you... but have to confess that I have stolen your copyrighted images.  I'm asking your advice/expectations on what I should do at this point; I would *like* to leave it on my facebook page, but will remove it if you request me to.

I also am going to purchase the image, regardless, because it is such a magnificent representation of that magical song; I'm *still* trying to match a couple of details in it...  Once I *have* purchased the jpg version, will you permit me to leave it on fb and Flickr??

In any case, I apologize for not doing further research before copying the image... it's so easy to just search for things, that I sometimes get ahead of my moral sense.

This is extraordinary!!! I'm a huge fan of King Crimson having seen them in 72 in their last gig of that incarnation: Boz, Mel, Ian Wallace, Fripp.
Come join our small group if you like !! I'm trying to help sell this incredible work for you. :)
It's called King Crimson: The Early Years 69-74 on FB. We discuss related artists and the later band at times too. We'd be honored to have you, James!

Hi. I just noticed your comment from earlier this month. I'm glad you like my work, thanks!
Later this Summer I plan on painting "Islands" inspired by King Crimson.
I've been to one King Crimson concert which was in 1996. I would have loved to have seen early King Crimson in concert.
I sold the original painting. I still sell prints except on Redbubble- they received a message there requesting it to be removed for copyright infringement due to the title, I guess.
I'll check out your facebook page.

I never got to see King Crimson. I did get to see Adrian Belew with the Talking Heads at the Heatwave Festival at Mosport Park in Canada in 1980. Amazing amazing show!

I saw King Crimson once around 1996. Excellent concert! Adrian Belew was the lead singer then. The California Guitar Trio opened for them- they were very good, too. They've worked with Fripp and others from King Crimson, as well.
Since then I've only been to 3 concerts- all Porcupine Tree- they've worked with Robert Fripp, too.

Outside of seeing local bands and friend at small venues,
the last two concerts I've been to were Social Distortion and The Damned. LOL!

Thank you. I sold the painting at my local gallery which was nice but it was to someone who never heard of King Crimson. They just liked the painting.
I would have preferred it if a King Crimson fan had bought it.
Oh, well. A sale is a sale I guess.

Thank you. I've been a King Crimson fan since 1973. I have most of their albums and I've seen them in concert before.  I just wish Robert Fripp would let them perform older, Pete Sinfield material in concert. "21st Century Schizoid Man" should be an iconic rock song, especially now.
However, though I haven't always liked the various artistic directions they've gone in, at least they never went commercial/mainstream.

This is amazing, it's hard to understand king crimson but with this paint you have given them a wonderfull visual interpretation. thank you for your work. Since I "evolved" in music taste I have always searched for works like these on great songs. i was pretty discouraged when i didn't found anything about "echoes" that satisfied me but your work on this masterpiece give me hope.
best regards

Thank you very much! Generally, I prefer instrumental music made up of long songs in length but Peter Sinfield's lyrics were responsible for much of the imagery in this painting.
Are you referring to "Echoes" by Pink Floyd?

E-Ewe Featured By Owner Edited Dec 5, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
yes, it is. especially this part of the song
"Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can
And no one calls us to move on
And no one forces down our eyes
No one speaks
And no one tries
No one flies around the sun"
this is the one of R.Waters preferred theme as i know. we are isolated in ourselves (the famous "wall" of the album) and we dont get that our salvation are "we" as humans who evolve together.
+) "help me understand the best I can" for me is a refer to a Jung quote "As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being".
+) "no one flies around the sun" is a visually refer to the myth of Icarus but at the same time could tell us that our fear (or the condition that does not allow us to be "open" to others) doesn't let our curiosity help evolve ourselves discovering the worlds behind other humans.
I hope these thoughts will give some inspiration. (:

One of my early paintings was titled "Echoes"by Pink Floyd which is one of my favorite songs as well.
I gave it that title as an afterthought because the imagery in it vaguely made me think of the song.
In the future I would like to do a more complete version of "Echoes".
The lyrics and the interpretations you supplied here helps. Thanks!

The image was inspired by the phrase "prism ship" in the "Court of the Crimson King" lyrics.
However, the 'Dark Side of the Moon' cover did help me to envision how I would paint it.
