Traits are permanently attached to your Tokota, and provide a number of advantages. There are different methods of earning traits.

A Tokota can have a maximum of seven traits at Submissive and Average and can have ten traits maximum at Dominant and Alpha. An extra trait slot is purchasable in the bank for an Elemental Heart at the Soul Pool. This limit only counts towards hereditary non-physical traits. Physical Traits, Merit Traits, Alpha Traits and those purchased from the Soul Pool do not count against your available trait slots.

If you have a trait you no longer wish to make use of you can replace them with a new trait, but you will not get this old trait back.
It is possible to remove a trait and have it placed into your bank by use of a PotA token. You can learn more about PotA tokens and how to obtain them here: Passage of the Alpha

For physical traits, see here!

The below list is no longer being updated!
To find an up-to-date companion list please visit the Traits Reference on Tokotna!

Will there be an opportunity to purchase or win unique traits in the near future?

Furreon's avatar

Not at this time, currently new unique traits get introduced via new starter tokotas, tameable wild tokotas or via tokotas that are raffled off as part of special events or such.

The-Nerd01's avatar

Well that's too bad, I've got my eye on that Popular trait for one of my pups! Thanks for the speedy reply though

Furreon's avatar

Oh if you meant already existing UTs you just have to breed for those. I thought you meant making/purchasing completely new UTs. Any already existing ones you can breed for or try to find genos/slots to purchase from other members! Popular is one of the most, well popular, unique traits so if you submit an advertisement journal stating you're looking for some Popular tokotas/genos/slots I'm sure there will be lots of people offering those up!

The-Nerd01's avatar

Thanks for the tip! I was hoping to apply it to an already existing tokota though and I know trait tomes can't remove unique traits, thus my problem, I'll have to think about it I suppose.

Furreon's avatar

Unfortunately unique traits cannot be removed and place into your bank with Trait Tomes. Tomes only work for "normal" hereditary traits, of common-extremely common rarities.

IoNekta's avatar

Are the benefits of Aippaq‘s fortune and Big Boned enhanced if both parents carry the traits?

Furreon's avatar

No, non-physical traits do not stack if both parents have them.

IoNekta's avatar

Ok! Thank you!!

milkyyrice's avatar
hi hi! I want to work towards leveling up my TCA level! So I figured I'd try to knock out level 1's (Have tokota with excellent AoAs.) and level 2's (- Have a tokota earn excellent AoAs with Wild/Wily Trait) ... Except... The Wild/Wily traits I can't seem to find..? I asked a friend who used to be apart of the group and they said that it looks like Courage Trait, Fellowship Trait, and Dignity Trait have replaced the wild/wily (and some other traits?)... So... What... Now?
Scribbles-Archive's avatar
So, you just need an Excellent AoA with the Courage Trait
milkyyrice's avatar
Thank you!! I couldn't figure out which one was the now corresponding one! Many many thanks!
Furreon's avatar
The TCA journal has the outdated info on those AoA trait names, that's all~ Wild/Wily has been renamed to Courage, Partnership/Tracker to Fellowship and Honor/Obedient to Dignity :3
milkyyrice's avatar
I see! Thank you!! Useful to know what the other one's are too!
LittlePredator's avatar

i don't know if its just my PC acting up, but for the Rite of Merit traits it doesn't say what type of competition- its just a blank space. I'm guessin wild- hunting, partnership- agility/sports and Honor- shows, but could someone double check for me?:(

LeprechaunPirate's avatar
Does the Superstar Trait stack? For example, if you have 3 tokos in a roll and 2 have the Superstar Trait, would the 3rd toko get 4HP?
Just curious so I know how I should pair my tokos in rolls
Fennarchy's avatar
Superstar trait doesn't stack.
LeprechaunPirate's avatar
Ok, thank you so much for helping and for a quick response!
Demnitate's avatar
Can Unique Traits be taken off a tokota with the use of a PotA token too?
Demnitate's avatar
Okay, I thought so, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the quick reply!
TheElvenJedi's avatar
Can the Akna's Blessing trait apply to female dires, or is it like the swan (?) companion where it doesn't work for dires? :) I have one sitting in my bank rn, trying to decide which toko to give it to and contemplating my 50% girl I have yet to design, but I don't wanna use it on her if it won't be useable =P
Furreon's avatar
Akna's Blessing does not apply to dires at all, just like the Swan. So I would highly advice against adding it to a dire x'D The litter sizes in dires go like this:

Dire x Normal
Standard: 3
Dominant dam and/or fertility root: 4
Fertility supplements: 5

Dire x Dire
Standard: 2
Dominant dam OR close care: 3
Dominant dam AND close care: 4

And then if there are any Hares on the parents, each hare brings a 25% chance at an extra pup, even in Dire x Dire breedings (and Hares stack so a Hare on both parents is better than just one having it!). This info can be found from this journal over here: Breeding Your Tokota
