Continuous events are shows and competitions that will be rolled, every time there are at least 5 entries in the folder, or if two weeks have passed since the oldest entry was submitted, whichever comes first and however frequently the admins' schedule allows. Some activities are without a deadline, but many are seasonal. Seasonal activities will remain open for 3 consecutive months of the year before turning over to a different event at the new quarter.

Rules and Requirements

Basic rules for all classes

  • Each "round" has a maximum of five participants.
  • There are three differently scored types of events: Activity, Practice, and Standard. All types share effort/RNG/competition bonuses, but are weighted differently for each type. There are many variables that can increase your score.
  • To participate, you must create a new tracker journal or add a section to your current trackers, where admins can respond with official event results.
  • You may only create 10 continuous event entries per month for all classes, total.
  • You may only win first place once per class, per tokota, per month.
  • Entries are limited to 1 tokota (or team) per entry, with the exception of collaborations for a maximum of 2 tokotas (or teams). This applies across all event types and classes.
  • You cannot submit the same tokota twice in one class, until it has been judged.

Basic requirements for all classes

  • Tokotas must be full body (75%) in art, and mentioned throughout the piece in literature.
  • Handlers, where required, must be at least 50% depicted in art and be substantially mentioned in literature.
  • Moderately complex backgrounds are required in art as well as coloring. Shading is optional. Grayscale/monochromatic art is acceptable if the tokota still has identifiable markings of a value relative to its import.
  • Literature entries must follow the same basic requirements as for drawing, and have a minimum of 1200 words, with a clear beginning and end.
  • Where equipment is listed it must be shown at least 50% (e.g. sleds, tack).

How to Enter

Submit your entry to the class's linked folder with the appropriate form filled out in the description. Each event type's form is listed in its own section.
Once your entry has been judged, continue on to the bank to redeem your prizes.

Prizes will not be automatically added to your bank account when the entry is judged!

WINTER ACTIVITY EVENTS

"You don't need much. A good nose, some common sense -- oh, and luck. Lots and lots of luck."
- Meira Dawson, Blackbend Kennels handler, 1933

Arrow Right by Catatonic-Art JUDGING FOR EACH ACTIVITY CLASS

Your entry will be rolled as if it were a regular Activity entry. The winner is judged by the TT value* of the first item in the roll. If there is a tie, items will be compared down the line until there is a winner. RNG is a final tie-breaker. You may redeem any resulting items in the bank's appropriate Activity Redeem Thread, just like any regular Activity entry. No other bonuses (effort, participation, background, etc.) are taken into account.

*Some items do not have a set TT value as they cannot be redeemed to the group for TT. The TCA has created a hypothetical price list for items that do not currently have a listed value. These items still cannot be sold back to the group, but should your tokota find any one of these in its Activity Events, they now retain value towards the Event.

The results from successful activity rolls may count towards your tokota's Alpha Prerequisites!

WINTER PRACTICE EVENTS

"Be persistent. Be persistent. Be persistent."
- Hardy Bogs, four time regional Working Class champion

Arrow Right by Catatonic-Art JUDGING FOR EACH PRACTICE CLASS

Your entry will be judged numerically based on each prompt's eligible bonuses (companions, tack, etc), on top of a 40 point sliding scale each for Effort and RNG. For these events, practice or persistence, is rewarded. You may use any of that tokota's previously failed Practice Event entries for +10 points each, until it wins: then its "practice bonus" resets to 0. Practice entries carry from season to season, but only within their Classification (Working or Playing.) Practice bonuses do not apply to any other type of event, and do not apply to Alpha tokotas.

Scoring Breakdown:
  • 1-40 RNG score
  • +1-40 effort bonus
  • +10 for Dominant tokotas
  • +10 for Alpha tokotas
  • +10 for each previously failed entry (same Tokota and same class)
  • +Trait, companion, tribe, faction, and item bonuses
  • -5 for inbreeding penalties
  • -10 for Mild injuries / -15 for Moderate injuries Severely injured Tokotas may not participate

I like it :D great job and I must say, I think it's good that Alpha Tokotas can not enter all classes. That gives other  Deviants and Tokotas without much traits also a chance to win :3

A Tokota that win one class cannot enter in the class again like it before or not?

A toko can only win each class once per month. So if Bob wins Toko Snow Plow in February for example, he cannot enter toko snow plow again until March.

where can i get parrots?
Shangry-Ia's avatar
Hmm, I need a bit of clarification about how often and how much I can enter. Let's say, I need to make 15 entries for the showstopper in the tribe achievement tree for the same chosen class. Which is the best way to get there? Could I do 3 Tokos this month, the same three next month and in May again? That would only be 9 entries... in three months

Do the activity traits effect the activity events?

For example if my tokota has the hunter trait and she brings back a red fox would it be worth 100 TT or 120 TT for the competition?
TotemSpirit's avatar
Nope, traits like Hunter, Explorer, etc. and TT-boosting companions like Bison and Bobcat do not affect the event "score." We'll update the activity event bonuses language to clarify!

"10 Trait Tokens, 20k TT or 15HP Tokens"

Does that mean that you can get a total of 15 HP or is it 15x HP tokens (meaning a total of 30 HP, since each token is 2 HP)? because "15HP Tokens" is very unclear as to which one it is. Same with the 2nd and 3rd place prizes, they have those listed in a similar way.

Am excited to sit down and draw some of these events. Compliments to the team who came up with the prompts! Also super psyched to see them rotate out seasonally. I love the variety and thoughtfulness that went into developing these classes.

Also psyched to see trait tokens offered as a prize. Looking forward to kitting out some of my toko-kids! :D

I just want to say I LOVE the CE makeover; I'd just about given up on competing, it didn't feel worth the effort before; but now I'm excited again!
I really look forward to getting into the competition side of Tokotas in the future and tacking up my competition pups <3

I adore the prompts; the fact that blind/deaf/deformed Tokotas can now partake in more of them (With fault instead of outright banning);
and the prize updates. I feel like Trait Tokens are a lot more valuable than the previous traits.
I also really like the inclusion of a small participation prize. In my opinion it really makes up for the effort that goes into each entry even if you lose; and is encouraging to those who - like me - lose a lot even with fairly well tacked Tokotas.

I like this  new ones but would also like to be able to do the older prompts for nostalgic reasons or if one of my tokotas has progress in the old ones instead of starting over fresh again.
DMWarpg's avatar
Speaking as someone pretty new to the group, I actually really like the new system. First, the layout is just easier for me to read. The whole process seems less intimidating as a whole. Second, I LOVE getting Trait Tokens instead of specific traits. It makes me more likely to enter as I'd be able to get something I'd actually use! Third, I feel like the new system is more friendly to PL players overall than it was before. I want to spend my time worrying about tacking my tokos for activities, not shows. It seemed frustrating to me to have to do both to get a toko to alpha. I agree with some others however, that a consolation prize probably isn't necessary (especially on the activity ones). All in all though, I'm a ton more excited for CE's than I was previously :3
Shibasi's avatar
Do we link past attempts that failed from the past CE's?
Its really confusing what this is all about since it changed...
NorthPaws's avatar
NorthPawsHobbyist Digital Artist
For practice events you will have to link previous failed attempts for that specific practice class if you would like the practice bonus.
This will only count for entries for the new events - you don't have to worry about your old CE entries prior to february.

For example, if you enter Winter Working - Tokota Snow Plow, and you lose, the next time you enter you may link your old entry to receive a +10 practice bonus.
If you lose again and decide to enter the Snow Plow a 3rd time, you can link your previous 2 entries to stack your practice bonus to +20. You can keep 'practicing' like this until you manage to win.

Hope that helps ^^

also what about the wild or honor or liberty traits...?
NorthPaws's avatar
NorthPawsHobbyist Digital Artist
If there are any traits or bonuses you don't see on any of the current competitions, there is a good chance you will see them during a future cycle. CEs will be running on a seasonal cycle that will cover all traits at some point ^^
