In the tokota world, there are many wild packs. Individuals also roam as loners, though all are closely monitored by the TCA's Wild Pack Safety and Preservation Bureau. This organization keeps a close eye on pack history and trends, as well as the potential of domestication for each. As of today, there are only a few packs with enough domesticated blood to be valid prospects for taming; most of them live close enough to human villages to have experienced some deal of interaction with people, and therefore are not typically predatory or aggressive toward human beings.
Overpopulation has urged the TCA to make the tough call of allowing outsiders to come in for taming, though a close eye is also kept on this process as well. Below are the four most prominent packs, and the only ones where individuals are allowed to be tamed. The TCA will announce upcoming wild tokotas nearly 24 hours in advance before the taming process begins.
Ila Pack
Meaning: "Companion"
Resides in: Qammutiq Flats
Pack Leader: Beowulf 32541
(Barren, snowy valley, surrounding Qammutiq Lake.)
The largest of the four.
The Ila pack is a closely knit pack of remarkably well disposition individuals. Aesthetically, they appear to be comprised of mostly bright colors, and tend to lean more toward a diet of hare and small mammals rather than large game.

Taktuq Pack
Meaning: "Fog"
Resides in: Iluq Forest
Pack Leader: Freki 32540
(Snowy forest that ranges for miles, has a somewhat spooky vibe)
The second largest of the four.
Taktuq members are often withdrawn and reclusive. They can be extremely hard to locate, and are often skittish or flighty. Grey seems to be a prominent color in this pack. Taktuq individuals are adept at hunting birds, deer and caribou.

Yakone Pack
Meaning: "Red aurora"
Resides in: Kesuk bay
Pack Leader: Asena 33216
(A quiet, warm (for the location) bay, frozen in the winter)
The most mysterious.
Yakone members are hard to come by, but usually have good dispositions. These are inquisitive, highly intelligent creatures, and will often follow travelers, as well as lead them astray. Yakone is known for having exceptionally interesting and rare coats. They are adept at fishing, and hunting seals.

Desna Pack
Meaning: "Boss"
Resides in: Tartok Mountains
Pack Leader: Fenrir 1886
(Treacherous, cold mountains.)
The smallest pack, with the biggest members.
The Desna pack was only recently "officially" discovered, but has been terrorizing locals for years. Nothing comes into Desna territory without the Desna pack knowing. Almost entirely comprised of what is now called the dire build, Desna members have only rarely mated outside the pack, and thusly these massive beasts have managed to keep their titanic size. Most of the individuals tagged in this pack are very carefully selected, due to the size and aggressive tendencies of some members. Desna pack members are adept at hunting large game and bears.

Aalto Pack
Meaning: "Wave"
Resides in: Waike Island
Pack Leader: Inua 65146
The oldest wild pack of tokotas in Narnvak has made its home on Waike Island, and is known to be one of the most mysterious packs in all of Tokotna. The newer TCA officials have, for the most part, rejected their existence. Many of the older members of the pack stay clear of leaving the island which led to claims that they are nothing more than ghost stories told by locals to scare away noisy visitors from the island. The older officials and locals know this to be a lie and can easily spot a member of the pack. The tokotas that belong to the Aalto pack are easily recognizable by their sleek, glossy fur and slender figures. These attributes are perfect for the aquatic lifestyle.
Lately, younger and more curious members have been leaving the safety of the shores, leading to TCA officials now being able to tag them for taming. Newer members of the pack have started to call all the shores of Narvak their home as they settle between rocks and seaweed comfortably, happy to munch on carcasses or actively hunt seals and chase schools of fish. During the summer seasons, this pack retreats to the comforting shade of the hardwoods, migrating back towards the wet coastlands for winter. They are excellent fishers and swimmers, and don't shy away from hunting in the wet mirelands. Their favorite strategy is to chase prey into sodden pockets of swampland, forcing them to tire themselves out and become easy prey.
Due to the seafood diet these tokotas live on, the TCA have begun conducting observation studies in order to see if this diet change has any ill or positive effects on the populace. A few key members fitted with tracking devices are occasionally tranquilized and examined by a vet, weighed, and then returned to the population. Thus far the primary observation is that the high amounts of natural oils in the seafood they consume gives the pack their exceptionally shiny and healthy coats.

Kialvig Pack
Meaning: "Sand"
Resides in: Ashen Desert
Pack Leader: Basalt 65145
The tokotas of Kialvig are a tight-knit group and it is not uncommon to see multiple pack members in one sighting. If you are tracking a lone tokota from this pack, you are assuredly being watched from somewhere yet unseen by at least one pair of eyes— but usually more.
The wild tokotas of this pack make their home in long-abandoned ash fields, the location of a long forgotten town and long forgotten people. Having dug deep into the volcanic earth, they make their nests within cave systems formed by the buried structures. The Kialvig tokotas are excellent diggers, ever expanding their caverns to new parts of the buried town. The pack members decorate their underground homes with colorful paints, making the grey-brown surroundings look significantly less drab.
Members of this pack tend to exhibit darker markings or darkening mutations and it is not uncommon for many of the members to feature Obsidian, Reversal and Melanism mutations. It is thought these tokotas are more likely to survive because the pack spends much of its time in the Ashen Desert where their darker pelts are better camouflaged against the dark rock-scape.
These tokotas are skilled survivors and specialize in the knowledge of where and how to stay warm during even the coldest of winters. They know the land better than anyone else, have a close connection to its history, and have an excellent understanding of the dangers and benefits life near a volcano can bring.

Boumanii Pack
Meaning: "Moss"
Resides in: The Gallows
Pack Leader: Miombo 65143
The major pack of Maquraq is even more elusive than most other packs and very rarely are the members ever seen leaving their jungle home. The local pack of Maquraq are notorious for blending into their environment, similar to the gods that call the region home. Due to the jungle environment, spotted and patchy pelts, dark colors and mossy hues keep the pack well hidden. With the slow expansion of Behmarii and other cities, however, more and more people are reporting glowing eyes spotted on the outskirts of town.
While the pack believes in helping each other to ensure survival, they can be quite vicious to those that cannot hide as well as the others, kicking them out to survive on their own if spotted by prey or humans too often.
A unique trait of the pack is they tend to be smaller than the average tokota. Their smaller, lithe statures make it easy to hide and climb in the jungle terrain. In the few sightings that have been recorded, it is believed that the moss gene runs dominant in their lineages, further aiding their camouflage in the jungle.

Merassa Pack
Meaning: "Gorge"
Resides in: Echo Canyon Park and Preserve
Pack Leader: Bronco 65144
The Merassa Pack are often found in the dense vegetation of ‘many trees’. The pack tends to consist of much smaller builds than most of the other packs; this trait allows them to make dens in root systems and to traverse hidden dens and cave systems too small for large tokotas such as dires and akotas to fit through. Surrounded by the menagerie of flora, the mane variants of this pack are quite limited to shorter types with the ease of pushing through ferns, brush, and other thick ground plants being necessary for survival.
The arid heat of Fosbir has shaped its wild tokotas to be survivors and opportunists. No prey is too small, and no trick too underhanded for these hardy survivalists. With recent popularity of the old ruins and tourism, the pack has been known to target small groups or solo tourists for bagged lunches, lunchboxes, and other easy food items. As a result, the pack's dens have become cluttered with colorful wrappers, fabrics, and other inedible items. Despite being well known for stealing from careless travelers, they do not show any hostility toward humans.
Wit and endurance are valued over all other properties, and the local tokota tend to be small, agile and excellent at finding both food and shelter in the most unlikely places. The pack travels in smaller family units to conserve resources, and is quick to move on from any location that seems to be too worn out by their presence.
