The rain has been hammering down outside for at least an hour.
I've been waiting here, for four or more.
He said he'd come, so I'll keep waiting.
Just a little longer, I'll keep faith.
It's getting dark now.
The store is closing up; I go outside into the rain and stand on the sidewalk.
Waiting for you.
Please don't let me down.
Eight hours, you're still not here.
I begin to walk slowly away, down the street.
A man rushes past me, yelling into his phone. "I'll be there soon, don't worry!"
I turn around and watch him run down the street and out of sight.
Walking slowly back to where I stood before, I keep waiting.
