Liberty Cinema part 1

Media, from TV to movies to print to theatre to radio and now digital have all from their inception been used to used as a tool to manipulate public opinion and influence mass psychology. Every time we turn on the television, go to the theatres, rent a movie, listen to the radio, open up a book or newspaper or even browse online we are inundated with the toxic globalist, collectivist propaganda, lies and disinformation peddled by the establishment disguised as cold hard truth. However every once in a while an honest writer, an honest filmmaker, an uncontrolled media company, slips through the establishment filter and makes something quite spectacular: a story that tells the truth. This is, frankly, something we should expect. Something we should be used to seeing. Unfortunately, with only a few major global conglomerates dominating the content of nearly every TV station and film distributor in this country, a truthful film or weekly show seeing the light of day is akin to a small miracle. Sometimes we just need to take a break from the propaganda machine and take a look at things that should inspire us instead of assault our minds with amoral rhetoric and blatant attempts to rewrite and distort our history. So for those who want to see something that actually promotes the principles of liberty and freedom here's my little list of movies and TV shows that I feel do just that.
 
The 300 Spartans-Directed by Rudolph Mate, 1962

This film was the predecessor to the 2007 film based on Frank Miller's 300 comic. In fact this movie was what inspired him to make it after he first saw it as a boy. Ever since then the Spartans have become something of an icon. This movie is a cinematic retelling of the historic battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. where the various city-states of Greece marshal a small force of around 7,000 soldier with King Leonidas of Sparta and his 300 bodyguards leading the way to defend Greece from invasion by the overwhelming military might of the Persian Empire lead by King Xerxes, portrayed by David Farar, and they choose the narrow pass of Thermopylae to make their stand. Though vastly outnumbered by the seemingly endless tide of Persian troops the Spartans refuse to flee or surrender even though they knew it would mean their deaths in the end. However Xerxes victory would come at a steep price of 20,000 of his troops, including a large number of his bodyguards the Immortals after 7 days of fighting. And the Spartans sacrifice was not in vain as it would buy the rest of Greece time to eventually push the Persian army out of the country at the battle of Plataea.

Aside from being a great military and historical film(far superior to 300) it emphasizes the need for courage, strength of will and sacrifice, even in the face of overwhelming odds and possible death, as well as how with training and solid strategic thinking a small group can keep a great multitude at bay and possibly even achieve victory(if it hadn't been for the traitor Ephialtes, the Spartans and their allies could've held back the Persians long enough to force them to withdraw due to running out of supplies). And in many ways I can see direct parallels between their battle and the ones facing Western society today as swarms of Muslim "refugees" invade Europe the intent to subject the whole continent to Sharia Law, thanks in large part to the moronic open border policy of the EU, or live off the free goodies from it over-bloated welfare system with many of them committing violent crimes and terror attacks. This was part of the reason behind Britain wanting to leave the EU. America is under a similar invasion through illegal immigration from Mexico and South America that has brought with it a wave of violent crimes from the drug cartels and gangs. A key difference between us and the Greeks is that the Greeks were fighting to keep the barbarians out while we're letting them in with fanfare and applause even as they rape, murder, plunder, assault, terrorize and cause unrest and instability. It also parallels the fight between those in the Liberty Movement and all who value Western culture and it's ideals and the cultural Marxists and globalists who want to destroy those ideals and establish their New World Order on their ashes. If ever there were a time for brave Spartans to return and defend freedom once more against this insidious new enemy, it's now. And who knows; it could be you or me. 

The Croods-Produced by DreamWorks, 2013

While Pixar has been certainly been enjoyed some well deserved praise and adulation for its recent success with Zootopia, Frozen and Inside Out DreamWorks is certainly no slouch when it comes to creating great content for families and The Croods is definitely one of their best works. It centers around a lone family of cavemen called the Croods who, due to seeing all their friends and neighbors die in various ways prior to the film, have developed a crippling fear of anything new and spend most of their time hiding in their cave in fear of the dangers of the outside world when not out hunting for meagre scraps of food to survive. However their teenaged daughter Eep doesn't want to live her family's life of routine and constant fear and desires to explore and see new things, much to her folks chagrin. But one day a cataclysmic splitting of the continents destroys their cave Eep and her family are thrown into new and unfamiliar lands full of both new wonders and dangers as they search for a new cave to call home. Along the way they meet a teenage boy named Guy who's something of a Stone Age entrepreneur who's always coming up with new ideas and inventions and has dreams of going to a place called "Tomorrow". Everyone, even the stubborn patriarch Grug, voiced by Nicholas Cage, starts warming up to Guy and some of his ingenuity rubs off on them as they navigate the strange landscape and come face to face once again with the same cataclysm that destroyed their homes. 

The theme of this movie is overcoming fear, survival, adapting to change, resourcefulness and innovation. The ones who ultimately change the world for the better are those who face the unknown and the things they fear and overcome them and those who innovate and create something new. In life you have one of 2 choices: hide away in our little caves in fear of the uncertainties and risks of the world and be content with a stagnant life of meaningless repetition and a false sense of security and comfort or you can come out of that cave and take on the things we fear and risks and uncertainties of life and reap the rewards of what we accomplish on our journey to Tomorrow.
