Description

Hello again, my fans. I've been working hard on the upcoming Space Pirate Captain MacTaggart, and I haven't actually uploaded anything on here in ages. So I thought I'd showcase this little thing I made today.

This was the first logo of the UK VHS label, The Video Collection. This version of the logo was used from the label's formation in 1984, right up until early 1995. This label typically distributed programs made by Independent Television (except for Thames, London Weekend, Granada,Central and Carlton, who distributed their own programs under license from VC). They also had the license to distribute many feature films (many of them through their Cinema Club label), as well as concerts and music videos (through their Video Music Collection label).

Most people remember this label for it's children's releases, including Thundercats, He-Man, Wind In The Willows, many of the Hanna Barbera cartoons, The Dreamstone, The Raccoons (albeit only for one release), Sooty, and was most notably the primary UK VHS distributor of Thomas The Tank Engine (the early US Thomas VHS distributors, Strand VCI Entertainment/Strand Home Video, were the US branch of the same company).

This logo is also noted for its really freaky logo that used to appear at the start of the tape ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqZifl… ), whose music was shared by Strand Home Video.

This logo was replaced in 1995, and the label rebranded as Video Collection International.

I hope you enjoy this recreation, as it was a real pain in the ass to make!
