Whats the matter Simba by TLK-Peachii Whats the matter Simba by TLK-Peachii
Hey guys.

I had a strange dream a little over a month ago, and I felt I just had to draw it.
I'm not sure why, but I felt it had much significance to me.

This is the only part I drew, since in the dream; it would have been more like a small comic.
However, this part struck me the most. I will relay to you this part of the dream.

When this part began, Simba appeared. He seemed to be sleeping in the Jungle on a rock
slab.
As his dream came into view, he was now laying on Pride rock. The rock was now grey rather
than the brown pigment it once held. It was almost as if it had lost it's color.
The sky around him was grey as well, and cloudy. He was laying in the position pictured
in the drawing above, and his head snapped around quickly as he realized something.
"W-what's this? I can't move!" He said nervously. At this point, I conciously understood
in the dream that Simba was having an episode similar to sleep paralysis. But I wasn't
aware of what was going to happen next.
It was as if there was a "cut", however it was the same spot and background.
Laying where Simba was, was what I recognized as a lion that was still the same character
I looked at just moments ago. Now, though, I realized he had some of Mufasa's features
despite the fact I recognized him as Simba. The nose, ears, and some of the body build
were more like Mufasa's. He had a wide, unrealistic smile that stretched across his face.
The teeth looked like toon teeth, far from the regular lion teeth we recognized.
His eyes were bulging and round, veins pulsing in them.
"What's the matter, Can't move?" Was what came of his slow, menacing and taunting voice.
The scene "cut" again, and now Simba has jumped up quickly and is running away, off of
Pride rock.
I don't remember much of what happened after that. It's a little blurry. All I know is
that after he left into the Pridelands, it showed that it was overrun by hyenas, and the
earth around them was decaying, dying. Food seemed to have been scarce.
The scene captured me so much, that even in the dream I felt it necessary to paint it.
I felt disturbed by it, and yet so captivated.
I felt like I needed to show everyone what I had witnessed.

And I felt the same upon waking up.
A matter of hours passed as the subject pressed on my mind, the image reappearing only
to stay as soon as I pushed it aside.
I feel like I have to show this to you guys.

It was so urgent in my mind that I actually finished drawing the outlines within as little
as 2 hours. If any of you know me, that is very rare. Though, painting it took me the longest.
I have done this without any references, just sheer memory. I usually tend to be a perfectionist,
meaning I usually like to have a reference accompanying me. But the image was so fresh in my mind,
that I was able to replicate it almost perfectly on paper.
I know I am probably unable to convey the whole feeling I had during the dream, but I gave it my best.

I did like the symbolism that I could understand of the dream. I forgot to mention that, in the dream, I
understood that this was during the time frame that Simba was taken in by Timon and Pumbaa.
Simba being unable to move in the dream was like saying he was unable to "make a move" concerning his home,
Pride rock. The other being, who seemed to be a mirror image of Simba; possessed features similar to Mufasa.
This shows the side of Simba that seems to emphasize his need to be like his father, and in such, that side
taunts him for being unable to take care of his home. Much like in his movie behavior, he runs from it,
being unable to face himself for his lack of responsibility; long before seeing Mufasa's spirit of course.
Seeing his home in shambles, next to being the devastating truth of what Scar had brought about, seemed
to be relaying to Simba that this was what had come of his home due to his neglect and fear.

Perhaps what the dream was saying to me, that I can gather, is that it's time to be an adult. I actually
have been working toward this lately. Soon I will be learning to drive and taking on full responsibilities
of the house I am in, and much like June 15th (The day I had this dream)
I took a walk to a street with my sister I had long feared to face my fears and combat my anxiety once and for all.
For me, the mirror Simba represents the hounding strength that dwells within, which I had long feared to agree with.
I was the one holding myself back, I am perfectly capable of moving.
Much like Simba was when scared into getting on his feet.

That is all I have to share with you guys. I'll see you later when I finish my other art.

I wrote this description and had it saved back in June. I didn't want to lose what memory I had,
what I thought when I woke up and began drawing it.

All of this is done with Oil brush and Watercolor brush on MSPaint.

That must've been really creepy. Somehow it sounds like a creepypasta, since Simba has the Jeff the Killer face somehow.

Wow, I thought it would be just something creepy, but it turned out to be deep and full of meaning.
I do get symbolic dreams similar to this often, but never with fictional characters.

Also, have You ever had sleep paralysis? It's quite scary. Very, if I'm completely honest.

Really? Awesome! Finally, somebody else to talk to about dream symbolism. :P If you don't mind, do you have any small examples of your own? I love hearing about dreams and dream symbolism.

Oh yes, I hate when it happens. I haven't had one in a while, but I had a couple earlier this year. The worst part was that in one of the paralysis nightmares, I saw a ragged, wild eyed man who had broken into the house in the dream. Nothing is worse than watching someone like that loom over you, and being able to do nothing about it. He had a knife and intended to stab me with it before I woke up. If I remember correctly I woke up with terrible gut pain.
