HYGIENE/CLEANLINESS and NEATNESS

It's just a fact of life that not everybody is as clean as could be, and it's not always because they're just a slob.  For the following questions there will be sections to allow for extenuating circumstances if your character is a potential candidate for Clean House.  Please note that this section will deal with potentially intimate activities, and some questions may be uncomfortable for you to answer. Read at your own discretion, and skip any questions you'd rather not think about.

Personal Cleanliness:
How often does the character brush their teeth?
How long do they brush each time?
What do they use to brush? What kind of brush? What kind of toothpaste?
Do they floss?
How often?
Do they use any kind of mouthwash?  If so, what kind and how often? How long do they rinse?
Do they use any other dental care product?  If so, what is it and how frequently do they use it?
Does the character brush their tongue?  If so do they have a special tool to do so or just use their toothbrush?
Does the character rinse down their spit or leave it in the sink?
Does the character wear braces, or have a permanent retainer?
How well do they clean these?  How often do they make the effort?
Does the character have dentures or replacement false teeth?
How well do they clean these?  How often do they make the effort?
Does the character have any fillings? Has receiving a filling affected how well they clean their teeth as opposed to before needing a filling?
Does the character whiten their teeth? What product do they use and how often?
How often does the character go to the dentist?
What is a usual checkup like? (e.g. do they have a pretty clean record, are they always told to floss more, does the dentist regularly tell them they have gingivitis, how often is a cavity found, etc.?)

How often does the character wash their face?
How well do they wash? Do they use soap? A special face cleanser? Water? Do they just rub their hands over their face?
What does the character typically use to wash their face?
What products does the character use to wash their face?
Does the character suffer from acne?
Do they use any treatment products for it? How often?
Do they pop their zits? Have people told them that's disgusting and they still do it? Why or why not?
Does the character use any beauty treatment products, like a face mask? How often?
Does the character touch their face a lot? Why or why not?
Does the character pick their nose? Why or why not?
Does the character rub their eyes often? Why or why not?
Does the character clean their ears ever? Using what? How often?

How often does the character shower or bathe? Which do they prefer?
How often does the character wash their hair?
Do they ever wash their hair without showering? How often?
What does the character use to wash their hair?  What products and how often?
Have they ever dyed their hair? What did they use, and do they use any additional hair care products?
What soap does the character use in a shower?  Do they use a body wash?
What do they use to wash? A cloth? A sponge? A back-scrubber?
How well do they wash?  Do they wash their feet or just do a quick wipe-down?
How do they wash? Do they start with their hair and work their way down? Face first? Body?
Do they use a separate cloth for their face and their body?  If so, why?
Do they ever urinate in the shower?  Why or why not?
Do they rinse down the shower after using it? Why or why not?
After a shower, how does the character dry off? A towel? Air-drying? Do they make sure everything is dry before dressing?
After a shower, what does the character do with their shower things? Do they hang up their towel (if they use one)? Do they throw it in a damp pile on the floor?

Does the character use deodorant? What kind, and what scent? How often do they apply?
Does the character use any sort of perfume? What kind, and what scent? How often do they apply?
Does the character use any other scented product? What is it, and how often do they use it?
Does the character clean out their razor after shaving?
Does the character keep their nails trimmed? Do they clean up the clippings or leave them as they are?
Does the character bite their nails? Do they bite them even when their hands are dirty?

(The next questions will deal with using the toilet.  If this makes you uncomfortable, skip to the next section.)

If the character uses the toilet standing up, do they ever miss? If so, do they ever clean it up?
If the character uses the toilet sitting down, do they ever miss? If so, do they ever clean it up?
Does the character make sure they are clean before pulling up their pants?

Does the character wash their hands after using the toilet?
Does the character regularly clean their toilet? Why or why not?
When they clean, what products do they use? A brush? A stick-on-the-side dispenser? Do they just flush Clorox every now and again?

Does the character wash their hands before eating?
Does the character wash their hands before cooking?
Does the character wash their hands after handling raw meat?
Does the character keep their cooking area clean? Using what?

General Cleanliness:

How often does the character do laundry? What products do they use?
Does the character ever leave their clothes in the wash long after the cycle ended? Do they rewash them or just throw their moldering clothes in the dryer?
Does the character ever wash their shoes?
How often does the character wash their sheets?
How often does the character clean their bathroom? Using what products?
How often does the character clean their kitchen? Using what products?
How often does the character clean their living room? Using what products?
If the character owns a cat, how often do they clean its litter box? Using what?  What about hairballs? (I know somebody who just let them sit around and dry out, but hopefully he's one of very few…)
If the character owns a bird, how often do they clean its cage? Using what?
If the character owns a snake, how often do they clean its cage? Using what?
If the character owns a dog, how often do they clean up its business if done in or near the house?
If the character owns fish, how often do they clean the tank?
If the character owns any other pet, how often do they clean up after it?

How often does the character do their dishes?
Do they let them sit around for a while? To the point they get moldy?
Do they let them pile up in the sink? To the point they get moldy?
Do they soak them before cleaning them if food is dried on, or do they just let them get nasty?
Do they ever clean their coffee pot?
Do they ever clean their microwave?
Do they ever clean their toaster/toaster oven?
Do they ever clean their stove?
Do they ever clean their oven?
Do they ever clean their refrigerator?
Do they ever clean their dishwasher?
How well do they clean their floors? Using what?
How often do they dust? How well?
How often do they clean their blinds or draperies? How well?
How often do they clean glass and mirrors? How well?
How often do they vacuum?  What kind of vacuum do they have? How often do they clean the vacuum?

What is the interior of their car like?
How often do they clean inside the car?
What sorts of things build up in the car? (e.g. fast food trash, cigarette butts, forgotten jackets or other items)
How often do they clean these things out?
During an average cleaning, how much money would the character find in their car?  How much old food would they find?
If the character spills a drink in their car do they try to clean it up right away or let it dry out?
Does the character keep any protective mats on the floor?
How often do they clean the outside of the car? Using what?
Do they go to a car wash or do it themselves?
Do they clean out the wheel wells? Do they let dirt cake on the sides of their car?

Inside the house, does the character leave their shoes on? Why or why not?
Does the character eat in places other than the dining room (if there is one)? How often?
Does the character throw their coat and things on the floor when they get home and leave them there? Why or why not?
Does the character throw tissues away after blowing their nose?  Do they throw them at the trash and miss?

What is the character's bedroom layout like?
Does the character make their bed every day? Why or why not? How good a job do they do?
Does the character have a laundry basket/hamper? Do they put their clothes in properly or toss them around?
Does the character leave dishes around their room?
Does the character leave open containers of food around their room? Drinks?
Does the character leave papers and books and things around their room?
How often does the character straighten up their room?
How often does the character really clean their room?
Does the character leave their room in a state of perpetual mess, but they know where everything is (a.k.a. "organized chaos")?
Do things grow in the character's room or fridge?  Are they plants or new forms of life?
