How would your version of 'The Simpsons' go?

Description

The tone leans largely towards the first seasons, where it's a bit grounded, before the series' infamous flanderization and wackiness.  More towards the same level as "Cape Feare", which the original writers gave it all they had.

SD15 - Springfield, Springfield by jbwarner86
Like this fanart, these are the main/regular cast.
- Ruth and Laura Powers still live next door to the Simpsons.  Ruth remains Marge's best friend.  Bart and Laura still hang out sometime, and she would become the Simpson kids' permanent babysitter, due to Bart scaring them off.
- Jessica Lovejoy is Lisa's rival.

Homer isn't as stupid as he is now.  He's the loving, caring father and husband who always tries to provide for his family, but tends to make really dumb mistakes.  And still gets drunk and hungry as always.

Despite Marge being a naggy wet-blanket wife, she's still considered attractive to many men and boys of Springfield, and any male celebrities she comes across.  Like Milhouse, who says that he thinks she's hot in "Simpson Tide".

Lisa is still smart, a vegetarian, and a Buddhist, but she's still an 8-year-old little girl who likes ponies, Malibu Stacy, and Corey.  She's also self-conscious about her appearance, like having a big butt.

Marge is friends with Maude Flanders, Luanne Van Houten, Ruth Powers, Edna Krabappel, Bernice Hibbert, and Sarah Wiggum.  Although Marge is much closer to Sarah Wiggum, and Mrs. Krapabbel doesn't like Marge very much.

Similar to "The Twisted World of Marge Simpson" and "The Last of the Red Hat Mamas", Marge was part of a group consisting of Helen Lovejoy, Maude, Luanne, Edna, and Bernice until they kick her out due to a combination of her boorishness and Homer's antics.  Leaving Marge despondent due to not having any friends.  But she still has Ruth and Sarah.

Bart and Milhouse still hang out with Lewis and Richard.

Nelson still has his two cronies, the Weasels, from "Bart the General" who follow him whenever he isn't bullying with Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney.

Lisa is still friends with Janey and Sherri & Terri; although they do have a habit of making fun of Lisa.

The Magnificent Three by jbwarner86
Lisa, Allison Taylor and Alex Whitney become a trio.

The Bad Girls from "Separate Vocations" regularly bully Lisa, as much as Nelson, Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph bully Bart.

Maude and Mrs. Krabappel are still alive.  Mrs. Krapabbel ends up marrying Principal Skinner.  Although she still has to deal with her husband's 'mama's boy' tendencies and her mother-in-law's crabbiness.

Principal Skinner is STILL Principal Skinner.

Moe's Tavern is still as crowded as it was in the earlier seasons.  Larry is still alive.

Chief Wiggum is a bit more competent like in the early seasons.  And there are other officers besides Lou and Eddie.

The Nahasapeemapetilon family, Dr. Marvin Monroe, Princess Kashmir, Lionel Hutz, Troy McClure, and Lois Pennycandy are still regulars.

The Simpsons eventually stop hiring Lionel Hutz as their lawyer.  I feel even if that would have been the case even if he wasn't written out due to Phil Hartman's death, since Marge stated this intention in "Old Money".

Fat Tony is still alive.

Laura and Shauna Chalmers become best friends.

Other one-shot characters become regulars:
- Mindy Simmons still works at the Power Plant.
- Belle becomes Marge's frenemy.  Like this article pointing out this missed opportunity: www.cbr.com/the-simpsons-golde…
- Mr. Black from "Camp Krusty" becomes a recurring villain, as originally intended.

In the future, Lisa DOES become President, and serve two terms.  It's one of the few things that's consistent in these future episodes.

I would christen this my DeFlanderization Season...

Keep that Golden era charm.

Bring up modern lessons in the world in various episodes, and show the pros and the cons, not to either extreme left or right.

Keep Barney's sobriety and have him continue to develop new skills.

Retcon Maude's death episode and change it to the Flanders family has an accident and Maude is in a deep coma.  For drama's sake.  Will she or won't she wake up is anyone's guess.  Later on an accident with power while either the Simpsons or others would struggle to keep Maud's life support going.  Another idea is Ned's crisis on faith.  Homer swallows his pride to support in his own unusual way.

Also, allow Rod and Todd to slowly come into the world, learn some lessons and become open, instead of being sheltered continuously.

Ignore all of Moe's suicidal tendencies and perhaps put him on a new course to become a better well rounded character.

Bring back Laura Powers, have her be an occasional recurring character.

Perhaps give Allison an episode.

Give Chirpy Boy and Bart Jr's offspring a Where's Waldo moments in certain episodes.

And keep the Simpson families good traits, while still learning lessons of the ever changing world.

Have Homer learn of his father's days of "The Flying Hellfish", and gain a new respect for him.

An idea: of there being a tenth Hellfish and a mystery or secret plot/hidden treasure, a sequel to the first Hellfish episode in a sense.

Marge and Bart learn their negative traits and work to become more understanding.

And Lisa...boy howdy.  I'd like an episode where she becomes infuriated of being reminded of Christianity constantly (I speak from personal experience such as finding mini pamphlets, that tell of Bible verses and seeking Christ.)  That will cause her to seek her own faith (ie keep the Buddhist change).  Why this does cause friction among the community and family, eventually I wish for Lisa to explain that all religions are equal.  That there is no divine or perfect one.  Forgive me, I'm thinking this off the top of my mind.  But in closing to "remember the past, but forge for the future".

Another faith based episode a newcomers faith in a charm (Nazar) causes controversy with the religious community.  And the character secretly has anger issues with Christianity.  No, it isn't a bashing of Christian faith but rather finding one's own path by what they feel is right, for the good reasons.

In various Treehouse of Horror specials, always have at least one involve Stretch Dude and Clobber Girl (love that concept)

Forgive the vagueness with certain details but I just went with my gut.  There's still so much to contemplate, but at the same time if I continue, would my well of ideas run dry or would I start "Flanderizing" characters?  It's sounds like a slippery slope.

That's all I've got at the moment. I hope it leads in the right direction for the show.  I hope a better one.
