Asura's Doll by tirsden Asura's Doll by tirsden
Heeee! ^___^ I love her new name. And he loves his dolly. :cuddle: I haven't heard him ask about Jian since! Good distraction is good. :giggle:

Asura: *has not forgotten*

.......d'oh. :XD:

Edit: Added in a little extra text to make the vegetarian joke less "whut?" for anyone who doesn't know the doll is a vampire. Yes, the box does actually say Draculaura is a vegetarian.

He was one of my first dream boys... To this day I regret not selling every ounce of my blood, hair, spare kidneys and other useless goods for him. If you ever find that you no longer wish to host him, I would gladly take your place. <3

Y'know there might still be one (or his head? *scratches own head*) for sale at the Den of Angels forums marketplace. I thiiink all the third-party dealers all sold their extras out, so sadly that option is gone. But yeah, he ain't going nowhere, he really was worth eating rice for a while (which was what I did lol). I hope you can find him, he really is a treasure.

Yep he's been sold out for a while, so glad you were able to find one! :D So sad to see him on the Den of Angels forums marketplace, but I guess those ones will go to a better home. I knew I had to have him as soon as I saw him, and was lucky enough to be able to work out a layaway with DDE. :D

Congratulations, I hope you can get him paid off quickly! ^___^

Hey I was wondering. Do you use UV cut stuff on him? Is it safe with his body blushing and tattoos?

Asura is 70cm tall, or a little bit over 2 feet high. :D

Oh boy, that is a huge question (incoming wall-of-text, duck!), and if you specifically want an Asura it gets even tougher to find one. He's a limited edition and Dollzone sold him out before last year ended. He was $800 plus shipping, I got him through Denver Doll Emporium (DDE) during the production run. He is the same mold as Chen, however, and Dollzone has two different versions of faceups (painted makeup) on Chen that aren't limited, so that would be one way to get something similar (he runs just over $600). The Den Of Angels (DoA) forum has seen a few Asuras on the marketplace, but if you are interested just in the concept of this kind of doll (ball-jointed doll or BJD), there are a tonnn of sites who sell them. How much you want to pay depends on which company you want to go through and what size doll you want. It's also important to avoid fakes, though if you stick with sites recommended through DoA (or just shop at DDE or Mint On Card for now) you'll be fine.

I would highly recommend signing up for a DoA account and poking around the forums, the Gallery is a great place to see all kinds of dolls. DDE is also a good place where you can look at several BJD companies all in one site, you'll see Dollzone listed in the side menu as well as Souldoll and quite a few others. Bobobie has probably the least expensive resin BJDs, more like $200 or a little more for a doll that is similar size to Asura. Their site pictures are awful but a lot of their dolls are actually beautiful; it's best to go searching for a doll company name and the doll's sculpt name for ownerpics for anything that tickles your fancy. Dream of Doll is mid-range, and companies like Fairyland and Dollmore run more expensive. There are tons more, and several sizes of dolls available from most companies.

BJDs require some special care because they are so expensive and resin is breakable. It's technically plastic, so it reacts badly to things like nail polish and will also change color in the sun (over time, so it's best to keep them out of the sun other than for photo shoots). But they are by far the most beautiful and customizable dolls I've seen, and they really are meant to be customized although they can also be enjoyed just the way they are sold.

All dolls will yellow eventually. Sunlight or not. But they don't look that bad when they do. Infact DOD dolls look BETTER yellowed.

Yeah I know, in fact people who think their dolls stay perfect in the closet in total dark boxes find out the hard way. I keep my dolls out, I didn't pay that much to have... closet stuffing?

I've seen some really pink DoD dolls but my lil' brother's Shall turned out pretty darn even-toned. That or I didn't notice because it looked good on her... can't really remember. A "whoah that's pink" would have stood out though, and I think she looked pretty normal. I've seen dolls that have actually gone the other way, greened, and those are neat looking! :D

I hear they do mellow out nicely, so hopefully it won't take long. XD
