Audio Abominations: Let It Go

Now, I haven't seen Frozen, but, then again, you don't NEED to have seen it to know where THIS song came from.  I heard it being played in a sweet shop yesterday and...that was reason enough for me to finally say my piece on this thing.

I WILL give this song credit; it DOES teach kids that you shouldn't care about what other people think of you (at least, that's what I got from the song), but that's not my beef with it...

My beef with it is that the execution is so underwhelming that it's ungodly annoying!  The whole POINT of Let It Go is that Elsa no longer shows any care that her kingdom knows of her ice powers (which wouldn't have been a problem in the FIRST PLACE if she and her parents actually EMBRACED them instead of concealing them - though I can understand why they did so), but, every time I hear this song, I ALWAYS feel like Idina's holding back!  For a song called Let It Go, I keep thinking the song should be called Hold It Back BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I THINK IDINA IS DOING - HOLDING BACK!

The song isn't nearly as passionate as it could have been, which is a HUGE let-down for me!  The lyrics are fine, but Idina's delivery and the musical accompaniment aren't as powerful as they could be for something under the name of the Mouse...  Heck, between this and Hakuna Matata, HAKUNA MATATA IS THE BETTER SONG!  AND I ABSOLUTELY HATE HAKUNA MATATA!  Think about it; a song I personally despise is BETTER than this!!  At least, in Hakuna Matata, the singers actually TRY - I don't get that impression with Idina; it's like she doesn't care that Elsa's in "haters gonna hate" mode at that point in the movie!

This song is such a huge pile of wasted potential and, dare I say it, little effort.  It could have STARTED off as gently as it does, but THEN grow more passionate as the song goes along!

I honestly prefer this FAN-MADE version of the song; at least the singer in THAT has more passion in his vocals and the better music accompaniment (in my opinion)!
