Wolverine and the X-Men promo by TimTownsend Wolverine and the X-Men promo by TimTownsend
This is the promotional art to the new Wolverine and the X-Men series by Chris Bachalo and myself. If you havent read it I recommend checking it out. Jason Aaron is giving Chris and I the best writing I think we've ever had. Its a FUN book.

Bachalo is a genius. His stuff is so simple but just amazing. And your inks just knock it off the charts!

You and Chris Bachalo are such an awesome duo!
I have the chance to own two comic pages of your team work and I'm still impressed by their graphic qualities!

I really appreciate it! Which pages do you have?

The first one is page 12 from New Avengers #51: it's the discussion between Doctor Strange and the young avenger Wiccan (who wants to know if he could be the new Sorcerer Supreme) until they get interrupted by the Hood. I really like the facial expressions on each panel.

The second one (which is my favorite) is page 3 from X-men #206: Madrox is brought by force to Mr Whitman, the "M" tattooist. The half splash page is really beautiful: the details, the facial expressions, the depth (with Madrox's hand and its shadow), all this combined together give such an awesome atmosphere!

I also like the dot effect on both pages in order to create contrast between the foreground and the background. I noticed that the elements filled with dots were glued on the pages. I'm interested about the process. Did you first inked the full page, then scanned the specific element you wanted to put on the foreground, filled it with dots then re-cut and placed on the page?

In the old days I would just ink the area as normal and use Zip-a-tone, a dot pattern sticky paper, and just cut it and paste it over the art. The last few years though Chris has just been making a quick copy of the pencils, turning them black, laying a digital dot pattern over the image, cutting it out, and pasting it on. Its not the prettiest method, at least in terms of the original art, but it saves a lot of time.

Cool pages! If youre ever looking for more, drop me a line.

I might have to check it out. That team looks VERY close to what I would call "real" X-Men. Love you and Chris together too.

Keep up the good work bro.

Great work! But Chris' faces get more...unshapely by the year. Look at Charles and Ororo or Magneto. Chris was always generous with the dimensions of his characters and it was usually awesome, but now they just don't even look like his X-Men from 2 years ago anymore. At some point it's crosses a line.
Well, my opinion at least.

Great stuff. One thing always bugged me though....Professor Xavier. Not your rendition of him. Just the fact that they have Alien tech, Future tech, and even Alt-Dimension tech they have access to (nearly UNLIMITED resources for MEDICAL breakthroughs), and yet he STILL sits in that Wheelchair! *LOL* I mean I know they have a "NANO-TECH Exo-Fiber skeleton LEOTARD" or maybe a microscopic guy that can go in a surgically reconnect his spinal nerves, etc. I mean COME ON! *LOL*.....But, great stuff, man. :)

Well, they DID clone his body at point that was perfectly fine, but his legs still wouldn't work because... actually I can't remember why. Something silly like he can't register himself being able to walk and yaddayaddayadda.
