Calm It by timsplosion Calm It by timsplosion
I was umming and ahhing over whether to upload this here or not, but the UK's Brexit Secretary just resigned so we could be heading for another general election this year, so those who've been here a while could use a reminder and those who've joined recently could us a heads up - I am quite politically opinionated. It does show through in my art. I will do the usual non-political funny/pony/other stuff as well, but when stuff picks up, I will express my view point through my art. It just hasn't happened much this last year or so because there's been so much that I don't even know where to start, and when there's not an election on it often feels like just screaming into the void anyway.

If there does end up an election being on, you're going to hear about it from me, and it's up to you whether you're ok with that or not. I know given it all, some people would rather just avoid politics entirely, I respect that, but if you choose stick around, consider yourself warned in advance.

Can't be more clearer than that.

And can somebody get this guy some Aspirin... so he can stuff 'em in both ears?

I think the Tories are going to end up removing themselves from power. They will most likley replace May after Brexit then call an election to get the mandate required for the public to trust the new leader. Though the instability of the Tories would likely lead to a Labour government, likely in a coalition.

Isn't everything political?

And just a tiny thing, if Trump is impeached, Mike Pence becomes president...
Maybe he'd be more reserved and think through his decisions. Or maybe he'd be worse. It's just something to think about is all.

Yup. There's politics in everything we sing.

Yeh, frankly I am a lot less certain about impeachment than others are. Perhaps Pence would be less bombastic, but perhaps actually acting statesmanlike might actually let him get away with some of what Trump gets berated for. I'd rather neuter his power with a Democratic congress, which is why these midterms matter so much. And then the US can vote him out for someone else come 2020.

*takes a breath*
WE NEED THAT ELECTION AND THAT REFERENDUM! People now know what Brexit is, and its impact on basically everyone in the UK and Europe. I guarantee, that if we have another referendum things will go differently! Its just because of those idiots who think the only thing that'll change is the immigrant "issue", and that we'll take control of our borders.
*sigh*
Okay, rant over. Hows life?

Yeh, now that we actually know what we're voting on - something we didn't have in 2016. I was hesitant about a second referendum, but frankly, given this government's recent implosion, maybe we should just end this once and for all.

Alright. I'm still in the UK, waiting for my Canadian permanent residency to come through. It could literally be any time between now and September. Alexx came to visit me here for two weeks, which was awesome. I still have a job waiting for me over there though, which is good. Just got an update on the project I'd be going back to, which is nice cos it lets me know I'm still on their radar.

How's you?

i'm good. i'll be getting my GSCE results later this month. I've applied for two colleges, one music and one engineering.
i have an audition for the music college on the 12th, so that'll be interesting.

Nice! How'd the audition go?

You have a preference between the music and the engineering?

The audition went fine, but today I'm going in for a second one.

I'm not entirely sure, i think I'm leaning towards the music side of things.

I especially like the cheeky face in panel 3.  It says "You totally missed the obvious solution, so I'm just doing this to piss you off until you see it."

It's not hard to just unfollow somebody if you're annoyed with their politics. Too many people want the artists and entertainers they follow to suppress their views and stick to non-political media for the sake of their own comfort. What's ironic is, these are often the very same people who mock the idea of "safe spaces".

Right? Like if someone I follow gets too nationalist and doesn't back down from it, I just unfollow them. It's really not hard.

And yeh, just from what I've seen, when left leaning people see right wing messages in art, they argue with those messages. When right leaning people see left wing messages in art, they say there shouldn't be any political messaging at all. I think it's because right leaning people tend to think more of their views are neutral or apolitical, whereas left leaning people tend to acknowledge that "yeh, this opinion I have is inherently political".

That's the point of satire comics. And they still make it.

Exactly! And even when it's not satire and more just commentary, I'm still free to make what I feel the need to make.
