Spike Sculpture 3D Print

Spike happily finishing another letter to Celestia.

This is more than just a figure, the props and base complete a charming scene that's even more impressive in person. Fine details down to the tiny uvula in his mouth. Shown is the first artist's proof at 5.097 inches tall. Based on results, adjustments were made to areas that did not print as expected. Final version for order is 5.297 inches tall. This sculpture is 100% modeled by me.

NEW: Hasbro announces partnership between fan artist and Shapeways to officially allow My Little Pony prints to be sold. Check out Hasbro's new site:

Please note, this is not a toy, it's meant for display only.

A few notes regarding Shapeways:
  • Shipping: Shapeways delivers to just about anywhere at very reasonable prices. Two examples, it's generally $6.50 in the US, or $20 to Japan.
  • Payments: Shapeways takes payments using PayPal/credit cards or bank transfers. PayPal doesn't require having an account with them, you can make a one-time payment using a credit card.
  • Satisfaction: Shapeways has excellent customer serivce. If the print doesn't meet normal standard of quality, or damaged due to shipping, they will reprint it.

Omg that's amazing! So much detail added to this little piece, it looks like they just took it out of the cartoon and put in real life. Everything looks great from the table, to the books to spike... I've never felt this special about a sculpture until now... you did an awesome job.

This is super cute and everything, and a must have, but Im afraid, no matter if this is a 3d print or not, for the same amount of money I could get a fine piece of art on a store to be able to put it on my living room or someplace else.

250.00 is way to much for a fan made item no matter how good the quality could be. At the end is not your character at all, don't get me wrong, I like spike and the work you did with him on this 3d print. But lets be honest with our self, when u see things done without license from a tv show or similar, those things are usually super cheap even a copy of something done from an original are super cheap.

But as i said, if I was able to get some extra money out of nowhere, I would definitely could get one. Right now I prefer to use the money for my daily basis.

I don't know if the price is something you have control or not or maybe is a price set by the people who print this.

Please tell us how this works?

At Shapeways, when you upload a model, you get a price based on the amount of material required to print it, start up costs for each print, etc. From there, you can keep it private (hidden) and order it yourself, or make it public for just viewing, and finally for sale to the public. When you sell it to the public, you can start off at the base price to print, what the artist would pays, or you can add mark-up. You can mark it up as much as you like. Shapeways will take a small 3.5% of the mark-up for themselves on top of whatever they make from the base print price. This model is does cost more, but mostly because I've limited how many times it can be printed until it is no longer for sale. I wish I can lower the price in hindsight, but it would be unfair to those that already ordered one, and another may never be ordered at this price. The only chance of acquiring one cheaper is if I sell extra prints that have small blemishes, but don't ruin the sculpture as a whole.

Future MLP models will not be limited, only a small markup, which helps pay for the costs to make the test prints and final print. Though, I'm wanting to push the size and complexity to the limit, so it's still going to be a bit pricey.

Another artist had their Shapways store closed down on them. Hasbro sent off a Cease and Desist to Shapeways for all 3D prints of ANY My Little Pony character! Anything sold from Shapeways with a Hasbro IP, WILL cause a $250K punitive damage.

You will need to find another 3D printing store.
