Description
An alternate design for the Quarian suits (namely Tali's) seen in the Mass Effect series.
As with the portrait of Tali I painted earlier, the goal here is to be as generally realistic as possible, and push the design more towards that of a HazMat or partial pressure suit.
The helmet has remained mostly unchanged, as it's an iconic part of the original design, and it's already pretty convincing. I broke up the cowl a bit though, and added some jewelry and carvings as personal touches. The rune carved in the mask cheek plate is a stylized Quarian "TZ".
Moving down, we have the backpack, which contains a dialysis machine, CO2 recyclers, radiators for the microtubule cooling system, and the water reservoir. Notice the heartbeat monitor applied to the right side of the chest... A little biochemistry joke there...
The arms are mostly unchanged, save for the IV lines from the dialysis machine.
I designed the chest area around a sort of cummerbund with straps, giving it the appearance of hiked-up pants with suspenders. The idea was to invoke a grease monkey mechanic look, or that of a stereotypical nerd; more in keeping with Tali's (and Quarians' in general) personality and ingame role.
On the small of her back is mounted the septic tank and fecal desiccator, with multiple lines leading to what's basically a high-tech, reusable diaper mounted in front of and below the groin. A combination of laxatives and water pumped directly into the rectum induces near-constant diarrhea, which can be easily cycled through filters. Yes, I thought about this shit...(pause for effect)...
The funny-looking arch symbols on her hip are stylized Geth heads: a kill count. Below those is a collection of hypodermic needles which can be inserted into the "emergency... induction... ports" indicated by the red arrows.
The bulky, white thigh pads contain the suit's main batteries, processing units, and cooling veins for each. The thighs are padded to protect these systems. As you can see, Tali gets bored occasionally and doodles on them with sharpie markers. I left this area white so the suit will appear more medical and sterile as compared to the original.
The lower legs sport typical Quarian boots, this time with steel toes, which are required on HazMat suits in real life to prevent tearing (feet take a beating). Yeah, I forgot her knife. Sue me.

VERY interesting, and while I find the idea of a permanent diaper and constant enema more than a little gross, it would make some kind of sense... I've heard other theories tossed around on Reddit and the like, that they have a second, more sterilized "suit" under the main one that's basically like what NASCAR drivers wear, pumping water and filtering waste and whatnot, but there are a lot of holes in that...
But this design is pretty dope! It just LOOKS like she scavenged and repurposed things in order to survive, exactly as one would expect a Quarian to do.
Also, I loved the doodles there. Made me laugh, because that looks exactly like pretty much every textbook cover I had in grade school. LOL.
