If you read my profile bio, you’ll know that one of my favorite artists is Nelly (Cornell Iral Haynes Jr.). Around the 2000s, it was the golden era of hip-hop, when Nelly was sandwiched between big names like Snoop Dogg, DMX, Eminem, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and Ludacris, not to mention the many talented female artists in the same genre.

Despite the competition, Nelly managed to stand out because his music felt different from the rest. While many rappers delivered their songs with aggressive rhymes and ear-pounding beats, Nelly stayed somewhere in between. One song would sound energetic, another calm and smooth. Most importantly, his lyrics rarely sounded threatening, it just felt like a friend talking to a friend, Just like in this song...
