James walked slowly back home from the shop. It was a small shop, owned by an elderly couple. Everyday he visited this shop, and everyday he bought the same 5 items; smokes, painkillers, beer, gherkins and a paper. He liked gherkins.
He hoped the kids that were hanging around outside his apartment complex would be gone if he walked slow enough, but they were still there by the time the entrance came into view.God damn kids, haven't they anything better to do, he thought.
