"I'm making a choice to be out of touch,
leave me be," he said.
"Leave me here in my stark raving, sick, sad little world."
yaay, it's finally finished! I've been working on this in my drawing class the past two weeks. I had to piece this together from 6 scans, so, it's a little fuzzy in some places... sorry, best I could do.
anyway, this was an idea that's been brewing in my head for a couple months... It's supposed to be somewhat abstract and I wasn't trying to copy Jhonen's style... I don't want to explain everything but Johnny's supposed to sort of be "melting" into the blood..drippy...bloodness... coming out from around the borders of the picture. but hopefully you look at it long enough to figure out stuff on your own.
this is my first attempt at doing a large ink piece, that's sorta why it took so long, was experimenting... the background is ink washes.. a lot of the detail was done with brushpen and then redone with ink and a nib pen; brushpen ink doesn't dry completely black for some reason (god I'm so anal)... and a lot of the border and such is brushed-on ink. all ink. it's inky. yay. done on illustration board... I think the size is 20" high by 15" wide.
i think i get what you where trying to get across here,in the blood work on the wall you can kinda see like...the eyes and stuff from mr.eff & phyco doughboy and stuff right? well either way i really admire the work you put into this...2 years ago XD
You know, for something that is meant to be dull and black-looking, that is exceptionally creative. Not that I'm critisizing it or anything, I don't know what's drawing me towards it but. Oh. It must have something to do with the melting effect. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
You've got a tallent with ink. You.
I honestly do love everything about this. The dark, black and white color scheme, and the mood. I love how you did the blood, how it covers all the edges and corners as though it's consuming him. You did an excellent job making it look as though he's melting into the blood. I really like the shading on Nny here, how the shadowed areas are flat black. And those symbols hanging from his hand.. I really like how they represent the other characters. Aren't those top two meant to look like the doughboy's eyes? Gah.. I can't remember which eyes are which x_x
By the way, "Sick Sad Little World" is an awesome song. It really does fit this picture.
