Chapter 3 ● Lissa
The sword came arcing towards her head, and she ducked in time enough to feel it brush the tips of her hair. An inch lower and he’d have scalped her. Spinning with the momentum, she came back to her full height, making a hasty vertical swing down towards her opponent's head, but he blocked it lazily. Too easy. Her blade scraped down his with the screech of metal on metal, and she took a retreating step back. It didn’t matter, his reach was a foot and a half longer than hers. If he wanted to hit her from there, he could.

Chapter 2 ● Lissa
As it transpired, Bayl bought breakfast in bed for the next two weeks - the prescribed period of absolutely no-fun-allowed by matron - and somehow Lissa managed to avoid going completely stir crazy.
