tigaer-design.com proudly presents: terragen - pulsar dawn (evolution)

in a distant future mankind spreaded seeds into the farthest regions of space... regions that need hundreds of years to travel, even on a such high technological level. mankind discovered forces, in the depths of space that, a few decades before, no one even tried to imagine. colonies, built for the simple purpose to do science, may soon discover how to master the mightiest of all forces... a black hole. outpost 2031, also called 'dawn', on planet amergine started terraforming almost exactly 400 years ago. the atmosphere, flora and fauna started to progress well recently and soon people may be able to spread out over the whole surface. there are hundreds of towers on different locations all over the planet.

races that will discover the ruins of these towers... 20.000 years in the future will guess what happened to the 'elder' kind. yes, they will call us 'the elder'... we were the first... out there. soon this race will understand what happened. old data was found... luckily reestablished. planet amergine lies peacefully in a huge stellar dust cloud called 'the elegy'. in the center of that cloud lies a pulsar. a dead star, once a majestic sparkling sun. 'the elder' settled here to find out how to use the mighty gravity forces that surround such a pulsar. maybe they found out how to use the mightiest force of all. maybe they traveled into another dimension. nobody knows what happened to them... all that is left are the ancient ruins of a presence that left a long time ago.

ps: this is science-fiction. 'fiction'. don't be confused with the story... the story just continues what the pic shows. what you see is still the era of men.

the render to that pic was made in the last days of 2004. at first i wasn't sure if i could use the render at all. i tried various things... implented this and that... and at first it hasn't looked very inviting to do further work on it. however... i did further work and now see what came out. the result is one of my most ambitious manipulation works ever. countless (not really ;)) layers and folders within the psd file. i do myself hard to name it 'terragen' since almost everything is manipulated in that piece. the only things that come from terragen are the rays. all the other stuff is own photography... textures... or self built stuff like the structures. the structures are completely photoshop. some might think i used a 3d software... but no. the buildings were also the hardest to realize. some of you might remember 'terragen - dilektium'... where i first tried to implement a bulding. i found that it looked ok and so i tried to take the next step in this piece. i knew, when i started the building work, that this must be a piece that tops everything i did before. now i'm not sure if it does so with the look... but technically it really tops everything i did before. i wanted a truly EPIC look and i also took the time to invent a little story thet simply explains the feelings i had while creating this piece. 'the elegy' - the dust cloud i talked about in the story - may be an element for me to try in a future space art piece... but that'll time show.

songs i can only advise here are listed in the stats. lisa gerrard is a female singer that even worked with hans zimmer on the gladiator soundtrack. in my eyes one of the best soundtracks ever made in movie history. a deep mystical voice followed by sounds that perfectly describe the emotions in 'pulsar dawn'.

I want to know more about the Elder and the planet amergine. This was fantastic story telling and art. Almost Poetic.

this is really cool. i likethe little story too.
my only suggestion would be to do something else in the sky! the surface is so vivid and detailed but the sky is almost solid blue :<
i love the concept of the one complex alone in the midst of all the mountains.
very nice.

this is Insanely good...............my eyes are so attracted to this.......yes this is excellent. I've never heard of this "Terragen" before, but it sure looks like it can be used to make some great stuff. I hope I'll be able to do something like this someday.......

well terragen only created the basic landscape... all the effects that give character to the pic were added in postwork via photoshop. :) thanks - i'm glad you like it. :)

Aber, I am not in love with your "23 layers - each about 95% transparent" - technique. :)

Du bist Irre! Hatte ich das schonmal erwähnt? ^^ ;)
